Trilobe has always treated time display as a design language rather than a settled formula.
With the new Château Trente-Deux, the French independent brings a deep burgundy dial to its integrated steel sports watch, pairing a wine-inspired palette with the brand’s signature rotating-ring indication.
It’s a fittingly Parisian twist on a watch that already marked an important step for Trilobe, not least because the Trente-Deux introduced the brand’s first manufacture automatic movement.

A Parisian sports watch with a Burgundy accent
Founded by Gautier Massonneau in 2018, Trilobe built its identity around a simple act of refusal.
Rather than using central hands, its watches read through moving rings that pass fixed markers, creating a display that feels architectural and kinetic at the same time.
The Trente-Deux translated that idea into a more contemporary sports-watch format, with a steel case, integrated bracelet and a sharper everyday posture than the brand’s more poetic earlier work.
The Château Trente-Deux leans into the French character of the project with a burgundy dial that recalls the colour of wine from the region of the same name.
The name also carries an address-book meaning, as Trente-Deux nods to 32 Avenue de l’Opéra in Paris, where Trilobe’s workshop is located and where the X-Nihilo movement was conceived, designed and assembled.
Trilobe also operates a manufacturing facility outside Paris, where a substantial share of the movement’s core structural components are produced.
The case and bracelet keep the watch on the refined side of sporty
The stainless steel case measures 39.5mm across, 10.15mm thick and 46.18mm from lug to lug, proportions that keep the watch compact without losing the presence expected from an integrated-bracelet design.
Its seven-part construction uses a barrel-shaped base with brushed surfaces, polished bezels and a fluted bezel that alternates mirror-polished ridges with matte grooves.
The crown is microblasted and fluted, framed by guards, while the left side of the case carries lateral fins that reinforce the watch’s sculptural profile.
Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which is adequate for daily wear but sits on the modest side for a watch with overt sports-watch cues.
The bracelet is a key part of the design rather than an accessory added afterward.
Its satin-brushed links are accented by mirror-polished central links, then taper toward a folding clasp for a cleaner and more elegant fit on the wrist.
A dial built around motion, texture and asymmetry
The burgundy dial is where the Château Trente-Deux separates itself most clearly from the earlier Trente-Deux expression.
Trilobe keeps its familiar three-lobed display, but the dial gains a warmer, more tactile personality through a mix of finishes.
The central surface uses a sunray motif that appears to radiate from the off-centred figure-eight display for minutes and seconds.
The minute disc has a grained finish, while the larger seconds display combines snailing with a Clous de Paris guilloché centre.
Hours are shown on a rotating peripheral chapter ring, also set against a grained background, with fixed indicators allowing the wearer to read the time as the discs move.
It’s not a watch for someone who wants the quickest possible glance at a conventional dial.
It’s for someone who enjoys the small ritual of reading time differently, and who wants that mechanical choreography visible on the front rather than reserved for the caseback.
The X-Nihilo movement sits at the centre of the story
The automatic X-Nihilo calibre remains one of the most important details of the Trente-Deux family.
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement has a contemporary architecture and is finished with a frosted 5N rose gold treatment.
It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 42-hour power reserve.
The calibre is also fitted with safety devices intended to protect it from shocks, a useful consideration for a watch positioned with daily-wear intent.
For Trilobe, the X-Nihilo matters because it moves the brand beyond an unusual display concept and into deeper control over the technical identity of its watches.
