TAG Heuer is putting the Carrera Chronograph Sport back on the grid with a more wearable 42mm generation.
The launch lands as Formula 1 heads to Madrid for the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix, a fitting stage for a Carrera that still leans heavily into the brand’s racing identity.
This isn’t a gentle colour update. The new Carrera Chronograph Sport keeps the muscular attitude of the 2020 model, but tightens the proportions, cleans up the dial architecture and gives the watch a sharper daily-wear proposition.

At a glance
- TAG Heuer has introduced new 42mm Carrera Chronograph Sport models with revised cases and dials.
- The watches feature ceramic tachymeter bezels, tricompax chronograph displays and the in-house TH20-00 automatic movement.
- Availability begins in September 2026, with European pricing from €6,350 on leather and €6,550 on steel bracelet.
A Carrera Sport case with better proportions
The most important change is the move from 44mm to 42mm in stainless steel.
That shift is joined by a shorter 48.6mm lug-to-lug measurement and a reduced 14.17mm thickness, giving the new watch a more controlled wrist presence without stripping away its purpose-built character.
The case still uses the familiar Carrera language of faceted lugs and alternating polished and brushed surfaces, but the overall execution is crisper than before.

The pump-style chronograph pushers remain, now detailed with coloured rings at the base and grooved rings on top.
TAG Heuer has also refined the fixed tachymeter bezel, pairing a steel outer structure with a ceramic insert in black, blue or green depending on the reference.
A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides sits over the dial, while the screw-down sapphire caseback carries an engraved Victory Wreath motif.

Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, which keeps the watch practical beyond its motorsport styling.
The dial moves closer to racing instrumentation
The dial update gives the Carrera Chronograph Sport a more technical look.
TAG Heuer has replaced the previous baton-style markers with Arabic numerals for double-digit minute indications, a detail that pushes the display closer to dashboard instrumentation.

The layout remains a classic tricompax arrangement, with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and running seconds at 6 o’clock.
The date now sits more neatly within the lower subdial and is colour-matched for a cleaner result.
The black opaline version is the most overtly motorsport-coded, using black azuré counters, red lacquered chronograph hands and white and red chronograph markings on the flange.

The blue model pairs a sunray-brushed blue dial with silver azuré counters, grey chronograph indications and a matching blue ceramic tachymeter bezel.
The green reference follows a similar formula with a green sunray-brushed dial, matching ceramic bezel, silver counters and grey accents.
A silver dial with black counters completes the core line-up.

Across the collection, the hour and minute hands are rhodium-plated, faceted and filled with white Super-LumiNova.
TH20-00 movement and everyday wearability
Inside is the Calibre TH20-00, TAG Heuer’s in-house integrated automatic chronograph movement.
The calibre evolves the Heuer 02 architecture used in the previous Carrera Sport generation, bringing a column wheel, vertical clutch and an 80-hour power reserve.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and can be viewed through the sapphire caseback.
The finishing includes Geneva stripes, frosting, circular graining and polished screw heads, while the oscillating mass is shaped with the TAG Heuer shield.
The steel-bracelet versions use an H-shaped stainless-steel bracelet with tapering links, an easy-link adjustment system and a folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.

The blue reference is also offered on a perforated brown calfskin strap with a steel clasp, giving the sportiest colourway a warmer, more casual option.

The new Carrera Chronograph Sport feels like a considered correction rather than a reinvention.
By bringing the case down to 42mm and sharpening the dial, TAG Heuer has made its contemporary racing chronograph easier to wear while keeping the visual confidence that Carrera buyers expect.
