MB&F Opens Its New York Lounge With a Rose Gold LM101 EVO

MB&F has chosen a very New York way to open its first dedicated Manhattan space, by making a watch that can only be bought there.

The new LM101 EVO NYC Edition is limited to 25 pieces and gives one of the brand’s most compact Legacy Machines a warmer, sharper character through 18K rose gold and a black PVD dial plate.

The LM101 EVO NYC Edition marks the opening of MB&F Lounge New York, located on the fifth floor of the Fuller Building at 595 Madison Avenue.

The 1929 building sits at the corner of 57th Street, giving MB&F a permanent address in one of the city’s most recognisable luxury corridors.

The Lounge is appointment-only and operates Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00.

Rather than a conventional boutique, the space follows the spirit of MB&F’s M.A.D. Galleries in Geneva and Dubai, mixing watches with kinetic art and mechanical objects.

For a brand that has spent more than two decades working with American retail partners, a dedicated New York home is a meaningful step.

Rose gold changes the LM101 EVO’s mood

The watch itself is the first LM101 EVO to combine an 18K 5N+ rose gold case with a black PVD-treated dial plate.

That contrast matters on a watch as architectural as the LM101, because the dark surface pulls the eye toward the balance wheel, subdials and polished structural elements above it.

The dial plate has a sunray-brushed finish beneath the black treatment, adding texture without making the display feel busy.

Above it, the large flying balance wheel is suspended under twin polished arches, while the time and power reserve indications sit on floating subdials around the mechanism.

The EVO case measures 40mm across and 16.5mm thick, with a more ergonomic profile than the earliest LM101 references.

It is paired with an integrated black rubber strap and an 18K rose gold folding buckle, giving the watch a more casual stance than rose gold might suggest.

The in-house calibre remains the centrepiece

The LM101 is an important model in MB&F’s history because the original line, launched in 2014, introduced the brand’s first calibre conceived entirely by its own engineering team.

Watchmaker Kari Voutilainen contributed to the movement’s aesthetic direction and finishing, which remains a key part of the watch’s appeal.

Inside the NYC Edition is the manually wound MB&F LM101 EVO calibre, running at 18,000 vibrations per hour and offering a 60-hour power reserve.

The functions are deliberately focused, with hours, minutes and a power reserve indication.

The movement comprises 233 components and 23 jewels, visible through a box sapphire caseback.

Around the caseback perimeter, “MB&F NYC” is engraved as a discreet marker of the edition’s purpose.

The EVO treatment adds everyday resilience

The EVO version of the LM101 arrived in 2025 as part of MB&F’s 20th anniversary year, initially in titanium.

Its updates are practical as much as visual, with a screw-down crown, integrated rubber strap architecture and the brand’s patented FlexRing shock absorber system.

Water resistance is rated to 80 metres, enough for recreational swimming and snorkelling.

That doesn’t turn the LM101 into a sports watch in the conventional sense, but it does make this highly sculptural machine more wearable in daily life.
