Romain Gauthier Gives the C a More Wearable Titanium Case

Romain Gauthier’s C has always sat slightly apart from the usual luxury sports-watch conversation.

It has the casual intent and integrated-feeling geometry collectors expect from the category, but its asymmetry, titanium construction and heavily finished hand-wound movement make it feel distinctly independent.

The latest Titanium Edition 39.5 sharpens that idea with a smaller case, a lighter wrist presence and three bright dial accents in blue, orange or pink.

The key change is proportion.

Earlier C models largely used a 41mm case, while this new Titanium Edition brings the diameter down to 39.5mm with a 46mm lug-to-lug span and a thickness of 9.45mm.

That sounds like a modest reduction on paper, but in a watch with such strong geometry, even small shifts can change the attitude on the wrist.

The case remains in natural Grade 5 titanium and weighs 51 grams including the strap and buckle, keeping the watch firmly in lightweight daily-wear territory.

Its bezel is one of the defining visual elements.

Romain Gauthier begins with a round base and circular bevel, then applies six straight cuts to create the angular, faceted profile that gives the C its architectural stance.

Brushed case flanks contrast with polished and brushed surfaces, while the crown stays at 2 o’clock for both visual tension and improved comfort.

Water resistance is rated to 30 metres, which positions the watch more as a sporty-elegant independent piece than a hard-use aquatic instrument.

Layered colour through a sapphire dial

The dial continues the collection’s deliberately uneven layout.

Hours and minutes are slightly off-centre, the hour markers vary in length, and the small seconds sits low at 7 o’clock with tapering five-second markers.

Rather than a conventional solid dial, the Titanium Edition 39.5 uses metallised sapphire crystal with fine horizontal lines.

The result is a sense of depth without turning the watch into a fully openworked piece.

Three versions are offered, each defined by its accent colour.

Collectors can choose light blue, orange or pink, with the tone repeated across the small seconds detailing and the nighttime glow.

The hands are three-dimensional Grade 5 titanium components filled with Super-LumiNova, while the numerals and indexes are made entirely from Super-LumiNova.

It’s a small but effective detail, giving the watch a graphic personality after dark rather than treating lume as a purely practical addition.

A hand-finished calibre with a contemporary layout

Inside is the same in-house hand-wound calibre used in the larger C models.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, carries a 60-hour power reserve and uses 154 components across 24 jewels.

The architecture is modern, but the finishing is very much in Romain Gauthier’s wheelhouse.

Five finger bridges, a traditional Vallée de Joux reference point, are reinterpreted in a horizontal arrangement and made from natural Grade 5 titanium.

Each bridge receives a double bevel, straight-grained upper surfaces and a hand-engraved dimpled texture.

The mainplate is hand-frosted, while the gears and ratchet wheel feature circular, bevelled spokes with circular graining.

The polished S-slot screw heads are another familiar Romain Gauthier signature.

Functionally, the calibre displays hours, minutes and small seconds, with a snail cam system for the stop-seconds mechanism.

The watch is delivered on a white rubber strap with a Grade 5 titanium pin buckle and an interchangeable strap system, with additional rubber colours available on request.

The Titanium Edition 39.5 should appeal to collectors who like the C’s independent character but wanted it in a more adaptable size.

It keeps the watch’s angular confidence and meticulous finishing intact, while making the whole proposition feel more relaxed, lighter and easier to wear often.
