The Xiaomi YU7 GT has moved to the front of the Nürburgring SUV leaderboard with a 7 minute 34.93 second lap of the Nordschleife.
That time puts the Chinese electric SUV 1.76 seconds ahead of the Audi RS Q8, which previously held the mark at 7 minutes 36.69 seconds.
A 990 hp electric SUV at the Green Hell
The YU7 GT is a dual-motor EV with a quoted 990 hp, placing it firmly in the new class of high-output electric performance SUVs.

Xiaomi also lists a top speed of 186 mph, a figure that gives the lap time some useful context beyond the usual straight-line EV numbers.
Battery range meets lap-time ambition
The SUV uses a 101.7 kWh battery pack and carries a claimed maximum range of 438 miles on the CLTC cycle.
That combination of power, battery capacity and range is central to the YU7 GT’s positioning, since it is being framed not just as a quick EV, but as one with genuine long-distance capability.
The details behind the record run
For the Nürburgring lap, the YU7 GT was fitted with a full roll cage for safety.
The rear seats were also removed to reduce weight, a detail that matters when comparing the run with showroom-spec SUVs and other manufacturer-backed lap attempts.
What the Audi RS Q8 defeat signals
Beating the RS Q8 is a significant statement because Audi’s performance SUV had become one of the benchmark machines for speed, stability and repeatable pace on the Nordschleife.
For Xiaomi, the lap gives the YU7 GT a clear performance headline as Chinese EV brands continue to push into territory once dominated by established German performance cars.
The margin is narrow, but the message is not: the fastest SUVs are now part of the electric performance conversation, and Xiaomi has just put its name at the top of it.
