Oris Gives the Artelier Complication a Cleaner Moon Phase Dial

Oris has given the Artelier Complication a sharper, more contemporary identity, and the result is one of the brand’s more quietly persuasive dress watches of 2026.

The new model keeps the charm of a traditional complication watch, but pares the display down to a moon phase at 12 o’clock and a 24-hour second time zone at 6 o’clock.

It’s also notable for the designer behind it, Lena Huwiler, who was 24 when she shaped this cleaner chapter for the Hölstein marque.

The most important change is the dial architecture.

Earlier Artelier Complication models carried four subdials, while this edition reduces the layout to two displays and gives the watch a much calmer visual rhythm.

At 6 o’clock, a 24-hour second time zone gives the piece practical everyday value, especially for wearers who travel or regularly keep track of another city.

The Artelier Complication is offered with midnight blue, ivory or chestnut dials, each giving the same layout a different personality.

Midnight blue feels the most urban and versatile, ivory leans toward classic dress-watch territory, and chestnut adds warmth without becoming nostalgic.

The stainless steel case measures 39.5mm across and 11.8mm thick, proportions that should suit a broad range of wrists.

Oris has gone for a fully polished finish, which gives the watch a slightly brighter character than its restrained dial might suggest.

A corrector between 4 and 5 o’clock adjusts the moon phase and 24-hour display, keeping the case profile clean while preserving hands-on usability.

Calibre 782 keeps the complication practical

Inside is the Oris Calibre 782, a self-winding movement that evolves from the earlier Calibre 781 and uses a modified Sellita SW200-1 architecture.

The simplified dial layout is reflected mechanically, with the gearing for the two removed indications no longer present.

The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 29 jewels and offers a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound.

A stop-seconds function allows more precise time-setting, while the exhibition case back reveals the brand’s familiar red winding rotor.

That movement choice feels aligned with the watch’s wider character, which favours useful complications, sensible pricing and approachable maintenance over theatrical engineering.

Strap and bracelet options change the mood

Oris offers the Artelier Complication on either a dark brown leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet.

The leather strap comes with quick-release functionality and a butterfly clasp, giving the watch a dressier feel that pairs naturally with tailoring.

The bracelet is a multi-piece steel design with brushed and polished surfaces, adding a slightly sportier tone without pulling the Artelier too far from its elegant brief.

That choice matters because this is the sort of watch that can shift character depending on how it’s worn.
