Mercedes-Benz has issued a US recall for 30,064 flagship sedans after identifying a potential issue with a front brake hose.
The campaign affects certain S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG models from the 2022 through 2025 model years, including the S580 4Matic, S500 4Matic, S580e 4Matic, AMG S63 E Performance and Maybach variants.
Mercedes-Benz and the NHTSA state that no crashes, injuries or property damage have been linked to the issue so far.

At a glance
- Mercedes-Benz is recalling 30,064 S-Class-based luxury sedans in the US over a front brake hose concern.
- Heat and mechanical stress can weaken the hose material, potentially leading to brake fluid leakage near the front calipers.
- Dealers will replace the affected hoses free of charge, with owner notification letters scheduled from November 27, 2026.
The brake hose concern
The issue centres on a front brake hose that can weaken over time under heat and mechanical stress.
If the material deteriorates, brake fluid can escape near the front calipers, and in some cases the hose could rupture.
That makes this a safety-related recall rather than a routine service update, even though Mercedes-Benz and the NHTSA have not associated the defect with any reported crashes, injuries or property damage.
Models included in the campaign
The largest group of affected vehicles is the S580 4Matic, which accounts for more than half of the recall population.
The campaign spans S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG sedans built between February 2021 and November 2024.
| Model | Affected vehicles |
|---|---|
| Mercedes-Benz S580 4Matic | 16,881 |
| Mercedes-Benz S500 4Matic | 7,143 |
| Mercedes-Benz S580e 4Matic | 2,277 |
| Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance | 1,746 |
| Mercedes-Maybach S680 | 1,070 |
| Mercedes-Maybach S580 | 947 |
What owners can expect
Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the affected front brake hoses free of charge.
Owner notification letters are scheduled to arrive from November 27, 2026.
For S-Class, Maybach and AMG owners, the key point is straightforward: the remedy is dealer-installed, there is no listed cost to the customer, and the campaign applies only to the specified vehicles within the affected production window.
The S-Class sits at the top of Mercedes-Benz’s sedan range, so a brake-system recall involving Maybach and AMG derivatives will draw attention from owners who expect quiet dependability as much as refinement.
With the repair identified and no related incidents reported by Mercedes-Benz and the NHTSA, the practical next step is for affected owners to follow the recall process once notifications begin.
