The next Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is starting to look less like a rumour and more like a track weapon in development.
A heavily camouflaged prototype has been seen wearing serious aerodynamic hardware, and even with its bodywork hidden, the intent is hard to miss.
This is the kind of AMG that matters because the Black Series badge has always been reserved for the brand’s most uncompromising road cars.

At a glance
- A camouflaged Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series prototype has been seen with aggressive aerodynamic hardware.
- Key visible details include active-looking front winglets, deep side air channels, a huge fixed rear wing and a large rear diffuser.
- Mercedes-AMG hasn’t confirmed the powertrain, though a flat-plane-crank V8 is expected and output will need to move beyond the previous 720 hp Black Series benchmark.
Prototype aero is doing the talking
Mercedes-AMG has covered the car thoroughly, but the camouflage can’t disguise the scale of the aerodynamic work.
At the front, the prototype wears a relatively compact grille with vertical slats, giving the nose a focused look rather than the wide-mouthed aggression often seen on track-focused machinery.
The bumper carries extra aero elements on both sides, suggesting AMG is refining how air is directed around the front wheels and along the flanks.

The bonnet is more revealing, with a central air scoop and a pair of small winglets that appear to be part of an active-aero setup.
Those winglets were seen in an open position, a useful detail that hints at a car still deep in aerodynamic calibration.
Projector headlights with integrated three-pointed-star LED daytime running lights give the prototype a recognisable AMG face, even under disguise.

Side channels and rear downforce hardware
The side profile shows large air channels, a sign that AMG is paying close attention to airflow management beyond simple visual drama.
On a car like this, those surfaces are rarely decorative, especially when the Black Series name is involved.
The rear is where the prototype becomes genuinely serious.

A massive fixed wing dominates the tail, paired with an enormous diffuser integrated into the bumper.
Slim LED taillights are linked by a black strip, while a mesh-like structure around the rear section may be connected to aero testing or cooling evaluation.
It’s an unusually technical-looking package, and it suggests AMG is chasing a more disciplined kind of performance rather than simply adding visual aggression.

The V8 question for AMG’s next flagship GT
Mercedes-AMG hasn’t confirmed what will sit under the bonnet, but expectations point toward a flat-plane-crank V8.
If that proves accurate, it would fit the character of a Black Series model, where sharper response and track durability matter as much as outright numbers.
The output target is the obvious talking point.

The previous AMG GT Black Series produced 720 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, so the new car will need to clear a very high internal benchmark.
It’s also expected to sit above the AMG GT 63 Pro, giving Mercedes-AMG room to position it as the most extreme version of the current GT family.
