Citizen’s Series 8 GMT has become one of the more compelling mechanical travel watches in its segment, largely because it offers a true GMT movement in a package that doesn’t play it safe.
The new limited-edition NB6092-01E pushes that formula further, mixing Damascus steel, forged carbon and gold-coloured detailing into a sharply styled integrated-sports design.
It’s a more expressive take on the collection, but the core appeal remains practical travel-watch functionality.

At a glance
- Citizen has introduced the Series 8 GMT NB6092-01E as a limited edition of 1,300 pieces.
- The watch combines a yellow gold-plated case with Damascus steel elements, a forged carbon dial and a true GMT automatic movement.
- Pricing is listed at EUR 1,495 or USD 2,200.
Damascus steel gives the case its signature pattern
The NB6092-01E uses the established Series 8 GMT case architecture, a bold tonneau-shaped profile with crisp facets and a strong wrist presence.
On paper, the proportions are reasonable at 41mm wide and 13.5mm thick, though the angular case geometry gives it a more assertive character than those numbers alone suggest.
For this version, Citizen has paired a yellow gold-plated case with Damascus steel used for the entire middle case.

The material’s wave-like pattern appears across the case sides and is especially visible around the mid-link area where the strap meets the case.
Citizen frames the watch around a “heritage meets modern” idea, with Damascus steel representing the heritage side through its association with historic sword and knife-making techniques.
Because Damascus steel is man-made and patterned through the production process, each watch will show a different visual grain.

Forged carbon brings the modern contrast
The dial takes the opposite material route, using forged carbon rather than a traditional metal or lacquer surface.
Forged carbon is made with short carbon fibre strands that are randomly mixed and moulded, creating a marbled texture that varies from one dial to another.
It’s a material associated with aircraft and high-performance sports cars, and here it gives the watch a technical counterpoint to the case’s old-world steelwork reference.

Citizen has finished the dial furniture in gold-coloured tones to match the case, keeping the palette cohesive against the black carbon texture.
The bidirectional bezel is fitted with a black and brown transparent insert, adding another layer to the warm, dark colour scheme.
A sapphire crystal protects the front, while a see-through caseback offers a view of the movement.

A true GMT movement for travel
Inside is the Citizen Group-produced Calibre 9054, an automatic movement made by Miyota.
It runs at 4Hz and offers a power reserve of up to 50 hours.
The key detail is its true GMT function, which allows the local hour hand to be adjusted independently in one-hour increments.

That’s the version of GMT functionality travellers tend to want, as it lets the wearer update local time after landing without disturbing the minutes or reference time.
The watch is rated to 100 metres of water resistance, even though it doesn’t use a screw-down crown.
