BMW has given the M2 CS a tightly limited Japan-only twist, and the headline detail is impossible to miss.
The new M2 CS Edition EDGE keeps the compact M car’s 530 hp formula intact, but adds a sharper visual signature through a centre-exit exhaust and a dedicated diffuser.
With only 40 cars planned, it’s aimed squarely at buyers who want an M2 CS with a little more showroom theatre and built-in rarity.

At a glance
- BMW has launched the M2 CS Edition EDGE as a 40-unit limited edition for Japan.
- The car features a centre-exit sport exhaust, a separate diffuser and selected M Performance carbon components.
- Pricing is set at ¥16.63 million before registration costs and optional accessories, with deliveries expected from September 2026.
A sharper take on the M2 CS formula
The Edition EDGE is less about chasing another power figure and more about adding a more assertive visual and acoustic identity to the M2 CS.
The centre-exit exhaust is the defining change, sitting within its own diffuser and giving the rear of the car a more motorsport-adjacent look than the standard layout.
BMW has also fitted M Performance parts including carbon air-duct trim for the front brakes, rear aerodynamic elements and a carbon engine cover.

Those details don’t radically alter the character of the car, but they do reinforce the sense that this is a more focused specification built for enthusiasts who notice the hardware.
Same 530 hp straight-six, same quick numbers
Mechanically, BMW hasn’t changed the M2 CS Edition EDGE from the performance setup already associated with the M2 CS.
Power comes from a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six producing 530 hp, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds, which keeps it firmly in the serious compact performance-car conversation.
That lack of extra output may disappoint anyone expecting a more extreme special edition, but it also keeps the focus on specification, scarcity and design rather than another round of spec-sheet escalation.
Japan-only production and colour split
BMW will build just 40 examples of the M2 CS Edition EDGE, and all are reserved for the Japanese market.

The allocation is split evenly between two colours, with 20 cars finished in Black Sapphire and 20 in M Brooklyn Grey.
That simple two-colour strategy gives the car a clean collector angle, especially for buyers who prefer limited editions that are easy to identify without being over-decorated.
Pricing starts at ¥16.63 million, excluding registration costs and optional accessories.

Deliveries are expected to begin in September 2026.

The M2 CS Edition EDGE doesn’t try to reinvent BMW’s small M car, and that’s probably the point.
It takes a proven 530 hp package, adds a more distinctive exhaust treatment and wraps it in a tightly limited Japan-only run, making it an appealing target for collectors who value rarity as much as lap-time potential.
