Bentley’s Crewe story isn’t just factory history, it’s the backbone of the modern marque.
To mark 80 years of craftsmanship at its Pyms Lane home, Bentley brought together 107 customer-owned cars and unveiled a one-off Continental GTC by Mulliner, finished in a bespoke Purple Supernova Ombre treatment created for the occasion.
The result was part anniversary gathering, part rolling timeline and part statement of intent for a site now being reshaped for Bentley’s electric era.

Pyms Lane becomes a living Bentley timeline
The celebration brought the Bentley Drivers Club to Crewe in its own 90th anniversary year, turning Pyms Lane into a chronological display of the brand’s customer cars.
The line-up began with EXP3 and ended with a 2025 Flying Spur Speed, with 107 Bentleys arranged to show the sweep of the marque’s development across more than a century.
W.O. Bentley-era cars, Derby-built models, iconic Blowers, modern Bentaygas and current Crewe-built cars all formed part of the gathering.
For many owners, the drive to Cheshire was a return to the place where generations of Bentley cars have been shaped, trimmed, painted and assembled by hand.
The one-off Continental GTC in Purple Supernova Ombre
The anniversary car is a Continental GTC created through Mulliner, Bentley’s personal commissioning division.
Its most distinctive feature is an exclusive Purple Supernova Ombre finish developed by Bentley’s Paint Shop and CMF/Bespoke teams.
The paint transitions from Supernova Purple to Supernova Purple Dark, giving the convertible a shifting visual character rather than a conventional single-tone finish.
A bespoke “80” side graphic uses a reverse ombré effect, while contrasting wheel finishes extend the commemorative treatment beyond the bodywork.
Inside, the cabin carries embroidered “80” headrests and a bespoke airbrushed fascia graphic showing Bentley’s Design Studio building alongside a celebration of eight decades of car manufacture in Crewe.
It’s a fitting use of the Continental GTC, a car that already sits at the intersection of grand touring, open-air drama and Bentley’s highly personalised approach to luxury.
Crewe’s craft legacy meets its next manufacturing chapter
The Crewe site was built in 1938 to produce Rolls-Royce Merlin aero engines before becoming Bentley’s manufacturing home after the war.
The first Bentley left the Pyms Lane production line in 1946, beginning an 80-year chapter that has linked traditional handcraft with increasingly advanced engineering and production methods.
Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, framed the anniversary around the people behind the cars.
“For 80 years, it is the extraordinary people of Crewe who have defined Bentley’s success,” Lehe said. “Generation after generation, our colleagues have combined exceptional craftsmanship, passion and innovation to create some of the world’s most desirable cars.”
He also pointed to the company’s next-generation Dream Factory programme, which is bringing new facilities, digital manufacturing and more sustainable production methods to the historic campus.
Recent additions include the Design Studio, Engineering Technical Centre, Excellence Centre for Quality and Launch, Integrated Logistics Centre and Paint Shop.
The Paint Shop was officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal earlier this month, reinforcing how central colour, finish and bespoke work remain to Bentley’s identity.
Work is also continuing on the transformation of the oldest building on the Crewe site into the assembly facility for Bentley’s first electric car.
That model, named Torcal, is due to be launched in September and will mark one of the most significant shifts in Bentley’s modern history.
