The car before the Mythos PureSpeed
The Speedlegend is interesting not simply because it’s rare, but because it previews an idea Mercedes-AMG would later bring closer to factory form with the Mythos PureSpeed.
Bussink Automotive started with the AMG GT R Roadster and removed one of the most fundamental parts of any road car, the windscreen.
That single change alters the entire character of the car, turning a front-engined AMG roadster into something closer to a modern barchetta.
It’s a more extreme interpretation of the AMG GT platform, built for the sensation of speed rather than everyday refinement.
Carbon fibre, roll hoops and a halo
The Speedlegend’s bodywork is far more than a simple roofless conversion.
It features a bespoke rear decklid, integrated roll hoops and a Formula 1-style halo structure designed to add protection in the exposed cockpit.
Lightweight carbon fibre components help trim 100 kg from the standard AMG GT R Roadster, which is a meaningful cut on a performance car already built around sharp responses.

850 hp with no windscreen in front of you
Power comes from AMG’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, tuned here to produce 850 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque.
Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The claimed top speed is 198 mph, which makes the lack of a windscreen feel less like a design flourish and more like a very deliberate challenge to the driver.
