Titan Takes Its 5.7mm Edge UltraSlim Mechanical to GPHG 2026

Titan is best known for its scale in India, but the Edge UltraSlim Mechanical is aimed at a much wider stage.

The new limited edition brings the brand’s long-running pursuit of thin watches into mechanical territory, with a 5.7mm Grade 2 titanium case and a display that avoids conventional hands altogether.

Its entry into the Essential category at GPHG 2026 puts Titan beside names such as Parmigiani, MB&F, Konstantin Chaykin, IWC and Audemars Piguet.

The Edge collection has usually belonged to the world of quartz, where ultra-slim proportions are easier to achieve.

That makes the Edge UltraSlim Mechanical more interesting, because Titan has kept the dimensions sharp while moving to a traditional hand-wound movement.

The case is 40mm across and just 5.7mm thick, with hidden lugs integrated into the case edge.

That construction also gives it a 40mm lug-to-lug measurement, which should help the watch sit neatly on the wrist despite the contemporary case diameter.

Grade 2 titanium keeps the weight down, while the cup-shaped sapphire crystal and exhibition caseback reinforce the watch’s technical intent without disrupting its minimalist profile.

The main visual and engineering trick is the dual-disc time display.

Rather than using conventional hour and minute hands stacked above the dial, Titan uses two rotating discs that sit flush with the display surface.

It’s a practical solution to a thinness problem, reducing vertical height at the centre of the watch while giving the dial a calm, pared-back character.

The Edge 903 movement carries the technical argument

Inside is the Titan calibre Edge 903, a manual-winding movement measuring just 2.2mm thick.

To make the disc display work, Titan reworked the drive path, lateral energy transmission and gear layout, rather than simply placing an unconventional dial over a standard architecture.

The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 42-hour power reserve.

Its stated accuracy is plus or minus 12 seconds per day, a sensible figure for a thin mechanical calibre with an emphasis on compact engineering.

The exhibition caseback reveals an openworked layout that gives the movement some visual depth, important in a watch whose front is defined by simplicity.

GPHG 2026 and the Essential category

The GPHG Essential category gives Titan a particularly clear stage, because it rewards watches that balance wearability, design clarity and price awareness.

At CHF 3,000, the Edge UltraSlim Mechanical is not positioned as an entry-level watch, but it does sit far below many of the Swiss independents and grandes maisons it will be viewed beside.

That contrast is part of the appeal.

Titan is not trying to outdo the old guard with theatrical finishing or a grand complication, but with a thin mechanical design that reflects the Edge collection’s own identity.

For collectors outside India, it may also serve as an introduction to a brand whose domestic presence is enormous but whose international watchmaking credentials are still being defined.
