Titan Edge UltraSlim Mechanical Brings Ultra-Thin Watchmaking Within Reach

Titan has spent more than two decades building the Edge name around thinness, first in quartz and later in mechanical watchmaking.

The new Edge UltraSlim Mechanical pushes that idea into more ambitious territory, with a 5.7mm titanium case, an in-house hand-wound calibre and a display that avoids conventional hands entirely.

It’s also notable because it comes from an Indian watch group better known for accessibility than haute horlogerie, which makes its CHF 3,000 price point part of the story.

The Edge UltraSlim Mechanical is built around a clean, monochromatic look, offered with either a muted white dial or a charcoal-black finish.

Instead of hour and minute hands, Titan uses two rotating discs, one for the hours and one for the minutes.

The result is a time display with a more architectural feel than a conventional two-hand watch, while also helping preserve the shallow profile of the case.

The case measures 40mm across and just 5.7mm thick, with grade 2 titanium used for both the case and bracelet.

A cup-shaped sapphire crystal adds a touch of visual depth, while the exhibition caseback gives a view of the movement beneath.

Water resistance is rated to 30 metres, which keeps the watch in dress-leaning territory rather than daily sports-watch use.

The Edge 903 calibre keeps the profile low

At the centre of the watch is Titan’s in-house Edge 903, a hand-wound mechanical movement measuring only 2.2mm thick.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 42-hour power reserve, with accuracy rated at plus or minus 12 seconds per day.

The calibre also includes an anti-backlash mechanism, an important detail for keeping the disc indication precise and stable.

Through the caseback, the movement shows an openworked construction with darkened bridges, Geneva wave decoration, sunray-finished wheels, rhodium-plated components and polished chamfers.

Titan isn’t presenting the Edge UltraSlim Mechanical as an outright record-breaker, but the engineering is serious enough to put the brand into a more interesting conversation.

An accessible entry into ultra-thin mechanical watchmaking

Ultra-thin mechanical watches are often the domain of expensive Swiss maisons, where the technical difficulty tends to arrive with a very high price.

At CHF 3,000, the Titan Edge UltraSlim Mechanical approaches the category from a different angle.

It gives enthusiasts a titanium case, an unusual display and a purpose-built slim movement at a price that’s far less intimidating than much of the ultra-thin field.

The watch also has a wider cultural significance for Titan, a company with enormous reach in India but a smaller presence in the global enthusiast conversation.

Its appearance in the Time Only category at the 2026 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève should give the model a more international stage.
