Shanghai Me Doha is giving September a weekly rhythm with a focused celebration of East and Southeast Asian cooking.
Beginning 1 September, the restaurant will introduce a different limited-edition dish each week through its Hanami Nights menu, turning the month into a four-part culinary journey across China, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand.
It’s a simple idea with strong appeal for regular diners, especially those who like a reason to return more than once.

At a glance
- Shanghai Me Doha will celebrate East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month with four weekly limited-edition dishes throughout September.
- The menu moves from Chinese Spicy Chicken & Tomato Stew to Japanese Beef Curry, Vietnamese Short Rib Pho and Thai Lobster Pad Thai.
- Each dish is available during its featured week only as part of Hanami Nights, served daily from 6pm onwards.
A September journey across four cuisines
The month opens with China, represented by Spicy Chicken & Tomato Stew, a dish that leans into warmth, acidity and spice rather than ceremony.
Week two turns to Japan with Japanese Beef Curry, one of the country’s most familiar comfort dishes and a fitting counterpoint to the more delicate associations many diners bring to Japanese cuisine.
Vietnam takes the spotlight in week three with Short Rib Pho, bringing slow-cooked depth to one of Southeast Asia’s most recognisable bowls.

The series closes in Thailand with Lobster Pad Thai, a richer expression of the sweet, sour and savoury balance that defines the dish.
The Hanami Nights weekly line-up
- Week One Chinese Spicy Chicken & Tomato Stew
- Week Two Japanese Beef Curry
- Week Three Vietnamese Short Rib Pho
- Week Four Thai Lobster Pad Thai
Each special will be served only during its assigned week, giving the programme a sense of pace rather than simply adding seasonal dishes to the menu.
That limited window is part of the draw, particularly for guests who follow restaurant activations closely and prefer dining experiences that change without becoming overly complicated.

Heritage served through an evening menu
The dishes are being presented through Hanami Nights, Shanghai Me Doha’s evening dining format available daily from 6pm onwards.
Rather than framing heritage as a single tasting menu, the restaurant is using the month to introduce a new cuisine, flavour profile and cultural reference point each week.
It’s a smart fit for Shanghai Me, whose identity already sits at the intersection of polished dining, regional inspiration and a social evening atmosphere.

The result should appeal to guests looking for a September dinner plan with variety, as well as diners interested in East and Southeast Asian food beyond the usual greatest-hits approach.
A reason to return through the month
The strongest part of the format is its built-in progression.
A guest could drop in for one standout dish, but the full idea works best across multiple visits, with each week offering a different mood and culinary vocabulary.

For Doha’s dining scene, where limited menus and themed evenings often compete for attention, this one keeps the message clear and the execution focused.
Four weeks, four cuisines and four dishes give Shanghai Me Doha a concise way to mark East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month while adding a fresh layer to its September evenings.
