Panerai’s relationship with Florence is more than a line in the brand biography.
For 2026, the house is marking 100 years of its Piazza San Giovanni boutique with two Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni limited editions, the Platinumtech PAM01734 and the steel PAM01794.
Both watches look back to a rare 1960s Ref. 6152/1 prototype, but the execution is aimed squarely at modern Panerai collectors who want history without the full 47mm footprint.

At a glance
- Panerai has introduced two Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni limited editions for the 100th anniversary of its Florence boutique.
- Both models use a 44mm Luminor case, sandwich dial, domed sapphire crystal and hand-wound P.5000 movement with an 8-day power reserve.
- The Platinumtech PAM01734 is limited to 100 pieces at EUR 55,000, while the steel PAM01794 is limited to 1,000 pieces at EUR 10,700, with boutique availability from September 2026.
A Florentine anniversary with genuine depth
The boutique at Piazza San Giovanni opened in 1926 as Orologeria Svizzera, long before Panerai became a global luxury watch name.
It was not simply a retail address, but a working part of the Panerai family’s watchmaking story, where watches were sold, assembled and repaired.
After its renovation and public reopening in 2001, the space remained a physical anchor for the brand’s Florentine identity.

That makes the Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni more than another city-edition exercise, especially given the “Panerai Firenze” signature placed below 12 o’clock.
The 44mm Luminor case carries a 1960s memory
The historical reference point is a rare Ref. 6152/1 prototype from the 1960s, a watch tied to the muscular, utilitarian language that still defines Panerai today.
For these anniversary editions, Panerai has translated that substantial 47mm presence into a more approachable 44mm case.

The familiar cushion-shaped middle case remains, now polished, while the crown-protecting bridge is brushed for contrast.
A slightly curved domed sapphire crystal nods to the Perspex crystals used on 1960s Luminor watches, giving the profile a period-correct softness without sacrificing modern durability.
Both watches use sandwich dials with circular brushing, cut-out numerals and indices, plus green Super-LumiNova on the markers and pencil hands.

Platinumtech restraint and steel practicality
The PAM01734 is the precious-metal version, using Panerai’s Platinumtech alloy with 95 percent pure platinum treated for increased hardness.
Its green dial and gold-effect hands suit the weight and warmth of the case, while the open sapphire caseback gives a view of the hand-wound calibre.
Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, which feels appropriate for a platinum Panerai that leans more commemorative than tool-watch.

The PAM01794 is the more robust and direct of the pair, with a polished steel case, black circular-brushed sandwich dial and blue-finished hands.
It also carries the stronger water-resistance rating at 300 metres and uses a closed brushed steel caseback engraved with the Florence boutique.
Both models are powered by Panerai’s P.5000 manufacture calibre, a hand-wound movement with two barrels and a long 8-day, or 192-hour, power reserve.

The movement runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 21 jewels and is made from 113 components.
The city connection continues through the straps, with Tuscan calf leather embossed with the Florentine lily.
The platinum watch comes on black leather with an additional green rubber strap, while the steel model is paired with dark-brown leather and an additional black rubber strap.

Each watch is delivered in a mahogany presentation box with a metal plaque depicting the historic entrance of the Florence boutique.

For collectors who respond to Panerai’s Florentine side as much as its naval-tool-watch character, these two editions land in a particularly meaningful place.
The steel PAM01794 is likely to be the more wearable daily proposition, while the Platinumtech PAM01734 turns the same anniversary idea into a rarer, more formal expression of the Luminor language.
