Porsche Marks 70 Years in Kuwait With the Ultra Rare 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition

Porsche’s relationship with Kuwait has reached a rare sort of milestone, and Stuttgart hasn’t marked it with a badge-and-sticker special. The 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition is a 20-car celebration of 70 years since the first Porsche arrived in Kuwait, mixing serious 992.II Turbo S performance with cultural detailing that’s unusually specific.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition is built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur at Zuffenhausen and reserved exclusively for Kuwait, where the Behbehani family introduced Porsche to the market in 1956 with a 356 Cabriolet.

A Kuwait anniversary with real 911 Turbo S hardware

This isn’t a decorative send-off for an outgoing model or a soft-focus heritage package.

The Sadu Edition is a 992.II-generation 911 Turbo S with Porsche’s T-Hybrid system, combining a 3.6-litre twin-turbo flat-six with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed PDK transmission.

Total output is 701 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, enough for a 0 to 60 mph time of 2.4 seconds and a 200 mph top speed.

All-wheel drive, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes with black high-gloss calipers and a front axle lift system give it the sort of usable performance expected from a modern Turbo S.

Cremewhite paint and Sadu graphics

The exterior is finished in Cremewhite, paired with the SportDesign Package in high-gloss black.

The 20-inch and 21-inch Sport Classic wheels follow the same two-tone theme, while the usual Turbonite detail is replaced by a coloured Porsche crest.

Golden “Turbo S Sadu Edition” script appears on the B-pillars, with titanium sports tailpipes at the rear.

The cultural reference is most visible in the Sadu pattern decals, which run along the lower doors and beneath the rear wing in Bordeaux Red, Guards Red, GT Silver and Black.

Al Sadu weaving moves into the cabin

Al Sadu is a traditional Bedouin weaving craft associated with geometric patterns, natural fibres and ground-loom techniques practised by women in desert communities.

UNESCO added Al Sadu to the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020, which gives Porsche’s use of the pattern more weight than a simple colour exercise.

Inside, Black and Bordeaux Red leather is matched with hand-stitched cross-stitching in GT Silver and Bordeaux Red across the dashboard, doors, rear compartment, seats and centre console.

The Sports Seat Plus backrests use actual Sadu pattern textile in Bordeaux Red, Guards Red, GT Silver and Black, rather than a printed imitation.

The headrests are embossed with “70 Years” in Arabic script, one of several details that tie the car directly to Kuwait rather than to a broader regional theme.

The small details collectors will notice

The illuminated door sills feature 20 square elements in white, with the seventh illuminated in red to reference both the 20-car production run and the 70-year anniversary.

A GT sports steering wheel in smooth black leather receives a Bordeaux Red 12 o’clock marker and a coloured Porsche crest.

Other equipment includes a Burmester High-End Surround Sound System, a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial with digital tacho and an electric slide and tilt sunroof.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur has also treated the vehicle key, key case and owner’s manual wallet, while the Sonderwunsch programme can add Sadu fabric lining to the front luggage compartment and glove box.

Pricing hasn’t been published, though the standard 911 Turbo S starts at around 77,500 KWD before the kind of limited-run Exclusive Manufaktur work seen here.

As a collector car, the Sadu Edition’s appeal is obvious, but the more interesting point is how carefully it links a modern 701 hp 911 to one of Porsche’s longest-running Middle Eastern relationships.
