The Nürburgring doesn’t need much explanation to anyone who cares about performance cars.
For Porsche, the Nordschleife is more than a famous circuit; it’s a long-running test bench, a proving ground and part of the brand’s motorsport identity.
To mark the circuit’s 100th anniversary in 2027, Porsche Design has created a matching Chronograph 1 for the Porsche 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring, and ownership is tied directly to the car.

A Chronograph 1 built around the Nordschleife
The new edition follows the familiar architecture of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1, the all-black instrument watch first shaped by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972.
Here, that functional language is tuned to the Nürburgring anniversary rather than simply given a commemorative badge.
The 40.8mm case is made from lightweight titanium and finished with a black titanium carbide coating, giving it the technical, low-reflection look that suits the model’s dashboard origins.
It measures 14.15mm thick and is fitted with a screw-down crown, a sapphire crystal with hard coating and seven-layer anti-reflective treatment on both sides, plus a sapphire exhibition back.
Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, which keeps the watch practical rather than purely ceremonial.
Dashboard cues and a quiet green Nürburgring detail
The black dial keeps the Chronograph 1’s high-contrast formula, using white numerals, indices and hands treated with Super-LumiNova.
A tachymeter scale runs around the flange, while the chronograph layout places the 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and running seconds at 9 o’clock.
The day and date display sits at 3 o’clock and is bilingual in German and English, a small detail that fits both the car’s home market and the international audience around Porsche GT cars.
The strongest Nürburgring-specific cue is the green Aero Disc graphic inside the running seconds display, a reference to the wooded setting of the Nordschleife.
A Nürburgring logo on the dial reinforces the anniversary link without overwhelming the instrument-style layout.
COSC-certified WERK 01.140 with a GT3 wheel rotor
Inside is Porsche Design’s WERK 01.140, an automatic chronograph calibre with a Sellita base and COSC chronometer certification.
The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 48-hour power reserve.
Its most car-specific element is found through the sapphire back, where the rotor reproduces the lightweight wheel of the anniversary GT3.
The rotor is finished in California Gold with a black centre-lock hub carrying GT3 lettering, turning the rear of the watch into more than a token display back.
Straps, allocation and ownership
The standard strap is made from genuine black Porsche interior leather, with perforations, green textile backing and GT Silver contrast stitching to echo the car’s cabin.
Porsche Design also includes a green textile hook-and-loop strap with a white centre stripe and GT Silver stitching.
Both straps use the brand’s quick-change system, allowing owners to swap between the more automotive leather option and the sportier textile strap without tools.
The Chronograph 1 – 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring will be made to order at Porsche Design’s manufacture in Grenchen, Switzerland.
Availability begins in September 2026, and the edition is reserved exclusively for customers purchasing the Porsche 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring.
