The Carillon Tourbillon Anniversaire is not another exercise in quiet minimalism, even if its restraint is unmistakably modern Parmigiani. It’s a five-piece chiming watch that connects Michel Parmigiani’s restoration background with the brand’s current language of architectural elegance.

A chiming watch with restoration in its bones
The Carillon Tourbillon Anniversaire draws inspiration from an early 19th-century Perrin Frères pocket watch in the Sandoz Collection, restored by Parmigiani Fleurier in 2000.
That connection matters because the brand was born from Michel Parmigiani’s work restoring historic clocks, automata and chiming watches before it became known for contemporary wristwatches.
In recent years, Parmigiani Fleurier has sharpened its identity around disciplined forms and finely judged restraint, especially through the Tonda PF line. This anniversary piece reminds collectors that technical sound and mechanical theatre are also central to the house’s story.
White gold architecture built around sound
The case measures 41.6mm across and 12.6mm thick, with polished 18k white gold construction and a box-shaped sapphire crystal that opens the view across the dial.
The fluted gadroon caseband, previously seen on the Armoriale, gives the watch a classical architectural rhythm. In a repeater, that case profile isn’t merely visual, as the case also plays a role in resonance and acoustic projection.
A repeater slide sits on the left side of the case, while the crown at 3 o’clock is set with a blue sapphire insert.
Under the sapphire crystal, the eye goes first to the serpentine gongs that curve around the dial. They give the watch an unusually direct expression of its function, making the acoustic system part of the visual design rather than hiding it beneath the dial.
The dial itself is hand-hammered 18k white gold with Parmigiani Fleurier’s Morning Blue finish, paired with white-gold hands and no hour markers.
That absence feels deliberate. The dial leaves the hammers and gongs room to breathe, letting the watch present itself as a carillon instrument before anything else.
The PF950 movement puts the theatre on the back
Turn the watch over and the hand-wound calibre PF950 becomes the main event.
The movement has 456 components and combines a flying 60-second tourbillon with a minute repeater using four gongs. One note sounds the hours, one note sounds the minutes and two separate notes mark the quarters.
The gongs are made by Jämes Aubert Le Brassus SA, a name familiar to serious collectors of chiming watches.
The architecture separates timekeeping and striking energy through a double-barrel construction, giving the calibre a minimum power reserve of 10 days. It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and uses 42 jewels.
The repeater mechanism is visible through the sapphire caseback, including the regulating flywheel, hammers and striking works. Parmigiani Fleurier has placed the flying tourbillon and power-reserve indication on the back as well, keeping the front visually calm while giving the caseback a deeply animated character.
Finishing includes hand-bevelled edges, hand-grained surfaces and the mezzo vibrato engraving pattern introduced on the Armoriale. The movement bridge decoration is executed by the Genevan Atelier Blandenier.
