Nomos Glashütte rarely needs to explain itself, and the Metro is one of the clearest expressions of the brand’s modern German minimalism.
The new Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue brings that familiar city-minded design back into focus, this time with a fresh dial colour and a newly developed hand-wound movement.
It’s a quiet launch in the best Nomos sense, but the technical update gives collectors a good reason to look closely.

At a glance
- Nomos has introduced the Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue with the new DUW 4701 manual-winding calibre.
- The watch pairs a 37mm stainless steel case with an ice blue dial, date display and power reserve indicator.
- It is priced at £3,500, keeping it close to the established Metro Date Power Reserve line.
A new calibre brings the Metro full circle
The Metro has always been an important platform for Nomos movement development.
When the collection arrived in 2014, the Metro Date Power Reserve introduced the DUW 4401 to the brand’s catalogue, giving the watch more significance than its restrained appearance might suggest.
For the Ice Blue model, Nomos has fitted the new DUW 4701, a manual-winding calibre with a 52-hour power reserve.

That’s a meaningful increase over the earlier 42-hour figure, and it makes the watch easier to live with if it’s set down over a weekend.
The movement also includes a patented quick-set date mechanism positioned at 6 o’clock.
The power reserve indication remains one of the Metro’s most characterful details, shown through a small aperture at 1 o’clock with a slim teal bar that suits the new dial palette.

Ice blue with a restrained Nomos edge
Nomos hasn’t treated ice blue as a loud seasonal colour here.
The main dial is galvanised in a light blue metallic tone that leans slightly grey, which gives the watch a cooler, more architectural feel than a glossy pastel would.
The small seconds display and power reserve aperture carry brighter light blue accents, while the hour markers appear as deeper blue dots.

The minute track stays faithful to the Metro’s graphic language, using dot markers with Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals.
It’s minimal without becoming sterile, helped by the subtle contrast between the softer dial surface and the sharper blue details.
Nomos is also using the same colour treatment on a new Metro Neomatik 41 Update, giving buyers a related option with a different display layout.
A 37mm case that still feels right
The Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue keeps the collection’s original 37mm diameter and 8mm thickness.
That sizing remains one of the watch’s strongest practical arguments, especially for anyone who wants a mechanical daily watch that slips under a cuff without fuss.
The case is stainless steel, paired with a domed sapphire crystal and a sapphire exhibition caseback.
Through the back, the DUW 4701 is visible, which matters on a watch where the movement is a central part of the appeal.
Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, making it suitable for normal daily wear and wet weather rather than heavy outdoor use.
The watch is fitted with a black Horween shell cordovan leather strap with quick-change spring bars.

At £3,500, the Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue lands in a sensible place for Nomos, particularly given the new movement and the added complexity of the date and reserve display.
It should appeal to the buyer who wants a refined daily watch with genuine manufacture credibility, but doesn’t want the weight, size or visual volume that often comes with more conventional luxury watches.
