Mercedes-AMG has already put serious numbers behind its electric GT 4-Door Coupe, but Affalterbach doesn’t appear ready to leave the car alone.
A lightly camouflaged prototype has been seen testing with more aggressive bodywork, suggesting a harder-edged version of the electric four-door is in development.
For a car already associated with 1,153 hp and a 2.0-second sprint to 60 mph in GT63 form, that’s a fairly bold place to begin.

At a glance
- Mercedes-AMG appears to be developing a more extreme version of the GT 4-Door Coupe EV.
- The prototype shows a deeper front splitter, vented hood, rear wing and revised spoiler treatment.
- The current GT63 setup uses three axial flux motors and is already rated at 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque.
A more aggressive electric AMG flagship
The prototype’s changes are not subtle by AMG standards, even under light camouflage.
The front end appears to gain a more pronounced splitter, while the hood features ventilation that suggests additional thermal or aerodynamic work beneath the skin.
At the rear, a fixed wing changes the character of the car from rapid executive express to something closer to an electric track weapon.

The rear spoiler also appears to have been reworked, which points to a broader aero package rather than a simple cosmetic exercise.
What could sit beneath the bodywork
No confirmed output figure has been released for this more extreme prototype.
The logical starting point is the GT63 variant’s electric powertrain, which already uses three axial flux motors and produces 1,153 hp with 1,475 lb-ft of torque.

That layout gives the GT63 enough performance to reach 60 mph in a claimed 2.0 seconds, with top speed limited to 186 mph.
If AMG is developing a more focused derivative, the gains may not be limited to headline power.
Cooling, calibration, aero balance and high-speed stability could matter just as much as extra output, especially in a car carrying this much performance and weight.

The sound question
One of the more unusual details of the GT63 is its simulated V8 soundtrack under hard acceleration.
It’s a very AMG solution to a very electric problem, giving the car a familiar emotional cue even when the mechanical reality has changed completely.
Whether this more aggressive prototype keeps the same character or adopts a sharper sound profile remains to be seen.

Either way, AMG clearly understands that its electric performance cars need to feel like more than silent numbers machines.

The GT 4-Door Coupe EV already looks like AMG’s clearest statement of intent in the electric era.
If this prototype becomes a production model, it could push the car further into super-sedan territory, where aerodynamics, software and motor output are all part of the same performance conversation.
