Mercedes-AMG has found another way to make the G-Class feel rare, and this time the focus is paintwork rather than power.
The G63 Two-Finish Edition is coming to Australia in a run of just five examples, each carrying a hand-painted two-tone black exterior and a numbered cabin detail.
It’s a highly specific take on the AMG G-Wagen, priced from AUD $425,327 before on-road costs and dealer delivery.

A hand-painted black-on-black G-Class
The defining detail is the exterior, which splits the G63’s upright bodywork between gloss and matte finishes.
The greenhouse, bonnet and spare-wheel cover are finished in high-gloss non-metallic black, while MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno is used across the lower body and roof.
That contrast sounds simple on paper, but the execution is deliberately slow.
The dividing line between the finishes requires several hours of masking, and only one Two-Finish Edition moves through the paint shop each day at the G-Class factory in Graz, Austria.
On a vehicle as square-shouldered as the G-Wagen, the treatment gives the familiar shape a more graphic presence without changing its silhouette.
AMG Night Package II sets the tone

AMG Night Package II brings a more discreet look to the exterior hardware, joined by a dark-chrome grille, black exhaust system, 22-inch forged wheels and black MANUFAKTUR running boards.
Inside, the cabin moves away from an all-black approach with titanium grey pearl and black upholstery.
A two-tone Nappa leather dashboard, carbon-fibre trim and a carbon-fibre and MICROCUT steering wheel give the interior a more technical feel.
Each Australian example also receives a numbered passenger grab handle marked “1 of 5”, a small but important cue for collectors who want visible proof of the allocation.
Familiar G63 performance remains
Under the bonnet, the Two-Finish Edition keeps the regular G63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.
Output remains 430 kW and 850 Nm, or 576 hp and 626 lb ft, with the SUV capable of reaching 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
That means the appeal isn’t a mechanical upgrade, but a more exclusive specification layered over the performance and road presence that already define the AMG G-Class.
