Louis Erard’s latest collaboration with Vianney Halter is not a regulator, but it still thinks about time in a deliberately unconventional way.
The Futur Antérieur takes cues from Halter’s Antiqua and turns them into a two-dial stainless steel watch, with separate displays for hours and minutes on one side and seconds on the other.
It’s an unusual construction at this price level, and a clear continuation of the design conversation started by the partners with Le Régulateur II in 2024.

At a glance
- Louis Erard and Vianney Halter have introduced the Futur Antérieur in Gold and Silver versions, each limited to 178 pieces.
- The watch uses two separate dials, two crowns and two automatic Sellita SW100 movements in a 38 mm by 44 mm stainless steel case.
- Each version is priced at CHF 4,950 excluding taxes, while a limited Duo Set of 78 sets is priced at CHF 9,900 excluding taxes.
An Antiqua language in a new case
Vianney Halter’s Antiqua remains one of independent watchmaking’s most recognisable designs, largely because of its riveted, porthole-like displays and off-centre logic.
The Futur Antérieur doesn’t reproduce that watch, but it borrows its visual grammar and gives it a different architecture.
Two raised bezels sit on the case front, each framed by twelve yellow-gilt rivets that make the separate indications feel mechanically anchored.

Each dial also has its own crown, decorated with six polished yellow-gilt rivets, which reinforces the idea that the watch is made from two coordinated timekeeping modules rather than one conventional display.
The case is made from stainless steel and measures 38 mm wide by 44 mm long, with a thickness of 8.85 mm.
Louis Erard says the case is assembled from 67 components and finished with circular brushing on the front, vertical brushing on the flanks and polished chamfers along the edges.

Two sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating on both sides cover the displays, while the solid case back carries the collaboration name and individual edition number.
Two dials, two Sellita movements
The defining technical decision is the use of two automatic Sellita SW100 movements.
One movement drives the central hours and minutes hands, while the other is dedicated to the central seconds indication.

Each SW100 measures 17.2 mm in diameter and 4.8 mm thick, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and uses 25 jewels.
The stated power reserve is typically 42 hours, with a minimum of 38 hours.
The oscillating weights are decorated with Côtes de Genève and engraved with the Louis Erard logo, though they’re hidden beneath the solid case back.

Both versions use Vianney Halter’s signature blued steel hands, a small but important link to the independent watchmaker’s established visual world.
Gold and Silver take different moods
The Gold version uses yellow-gilt dials with grained baseplates, circular-brushed outer rings and polished chamfers.
Black transfers keep the display sharp, and the watch is paired with a black ostrich leather strap.

The Silver version shifts the tone with rhodium-plated dials using the same grained and circular-brushed finishing, matched to a blue ostrich leather strap.
Both straps have tone-on-tone stitching, black grained calfskin linings and quick-change spring bars.
They are secured by stainless steel pin buckles with brushed and polished surfaces.

The name Futur Antérieur refers to the French grammatical tense used for something that will have happened.
Here, it’s a neat fit for a watch that looks back to Halter’s earlier design language while arriving as a new construction with Louis Erard.

A collector’s Louis Erard with independent watchmaking attitude
The Futur Antérieur sits in the space Louis Erard has been cultivating with its collaborations, where independent-watchmaking ideas are translated into more accessible limited editions.

It won’t appeal to someone looking for a discreet daily three-hander, and that’s clearly not the point.
For collectors drawn to Halter’s design codes, mechanical eccentricity and the odd poetry of a seconds hand running on its own movement, this is one of Louis Erard’s most characterful collaborative watches yet.
