Louis Erard and Konstantin Chaykin Give the Unfrogettable a Turquoise and Brown Encore

The Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Unfrogettable was never going to behave like a conventional regulator.

Its frog-faced dial, crown-shaped crown and fairy-tale humour made sure of that, and now the collaboration is back with two new colourways that shift the personality without changing the underlying watch.

Turquoise feels bright and mischievous, while Brown leans warmer and more unexpectedly vintage in tone.

A fairy-tale regulator in titanium

The Unfrogettable takes its cue from The Frog Prince, though its charm sits closer to horological mischief than nursery-book sweetness.

The case remains 40mm across and 12.45mm thick, made from Grade 5 titanium for a light, contemporary feel on the wrist.

The regulator display is central to the watch’s character.

The hour and seconds subdials sit like a pair of eyes, while the textured dial surface suggests the uneven skin of a frog without becoming cartoonish.

Just below the eyes are lacquered nostrils, a small detail that makes the whole composition snap into focus.

The crown at 12 o’clock is shaped like a crown in the literal sense, giving the watch one of its most memorable gestures.

On the Turquoise edition it is polished titanium, while the Brown version uses warm PVD 5N finishing to echo the dial and hands.

Turquoise and Brown give the frog two distinct moods

The Turquoise model is the brighter of the pair, with a dark turquoise and purple hour ring and a minute track that moves from deep blue-green into violet.

The lighter grained turquoise lower plate gives the face depth, while rhodium-treated discs and hands keep the display crisp.

Green Super-LumiNova details and a luminous tip on the minute hand add practical night-time visibility rather than leaving the lume as decoration.

The Brown edition changes the tone completely.

Its dark brown and ochre hour ring is paired with 5N-plated discs and hands, giving the watch a warmer metallic note that feels almost antique by comparison.

It’s a surprising direction for such a playful design, and that contrast is what makes the Brown version more interesting than a simple colour swap.

A rotated Sellita calibre behind the character

Inside is the Sellita SW266-1, an automatic regulator movement in élaboré grade.

For this watch, the calibre is rotated 90 degrees to accommodate the 12 o’clock crown and the dial layout.

Hours are shown at 9 o’clock, running seconds at 3 o’clock and minutes are read from the central arrow-shaped hand.

The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 31 jewels and offers around 38 hours of power reserve.

Through the sapphire caseback, the openworked rotor carries Louis Erard’s black-lacquered symbol, while the caseback also marks each watch as “1 OF 178”.

Both editions are fitted to black Himeji Kurozan leather straps that are hand-rubbed and Urushi-lacquered, with material sourced from a historic Japanese tannery.

The Turquoise version uses purple stitching and lining, while the Brown version keeps things darker with black stitching and lining.

Quick-release spring bars and a titanium pin buckle round out the strap execution.

At CHF 4,500, the new Unfrogettable editions remain positioned as characterful limited-run watchmaking rather than novelty for novelty’s sake.

For collectors who missed the earlier green and purple pieces, Turquoise and Brown offer another chance at one of Louis Erard’s most idiosyncratic collaborations, with just enough seriousness beneath the smile to make the joke last.
