Louis Erard and Konstantin Chaykin Bring New Colour to the Unfrogettable

Louis Erard’s collaboration with Konstantin Chaykin has never been about playing it safe.

The Unfrogettable turns the regulator watch into a character, complete with wandering eyes, a tiara-like crown and the mischievous energy of Chaykin’s Wristmons. Now the Frog Princess returns in two new colourways, giving one of Louis Erard’s most distinctive recent releases a brighter and warmer second act.

Louis Erard has built much of its modern identity around accessible collaborations with independent watchmakers, and the Konstantin Chaykin partnership sits among the most expressive of them.

Chaykin’s Wristmons are known for turning time display into facial expression, and the Unfrogettable does the same through the lens of Louis Erard’s regulator format.

Instead of placing the regulator indications vertically, the watch rotates the layout by 90 degrees.

The left eye at 9 o’clock displays the hours, while the right eye at 3 o’clock handles the running seconds.

The minutes remain on the outer track, indicated by a long arrow-shaped hand that stretches across the dial.

Because the eyes move at different speeds, the face never quite settles into a single expression.

That small piece of mechanical theatre is the point of the watch, and it’s also what keeps the humour from feeling superficial.

Turquoise and brown change the character

The two new editions give the Frog Princess very different personalities.

The turquoise model is the more vivid of the pair, with a grained dark turquoise dial and a two-tone peripheral minutes track in violet and dark turquoise.

The Louis Erard and Konstantin Chaykin names appear together in the violet section, linked by a small heart.

Its eyes and nostrils are picked out in dark turquoise, while a rhodium-plated minute hand keeps the display sharp and legible.

The brown version feels warmer and slightly more restrained, using a grained dark brown dial with darker brown accents on the eyes, nostrils and upper section of the minutes track.

Here, the crown, eye details and minute hand receive 5N-treated accents, which bring a softer metallic glow to the design.

Both versions use green Super-LumiNova on the eye indicators and the tip of the minute hand, adding function while keeping the frog’s face alive in low light.

The tiara crown and titanium case

The rotated display required a case layout that differs from more conventional Louis Erard regulator models.

The crown sits at 12 o’clock rather than 3 o’clock, shaped like a three-point tiara above the Frog Princess’s head.

That detail could easily have become a gimmick, but it suits the watch’s character and gives the case a clear visual identity from across the room.

The case is made from satin-finished and polished grade 5 titanium, measuring 40mm across and 12.45mm thick.

The lug-to-lug length is 46.5mm, with lugs that wrap around the case to accommodate the unusual crown position and help the watch sit more naturally on the wrist.

A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, while the back also uses sapphire to show the automatic movement.

Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which is sensible for a playful daily-wear watch rather than a piece meant to live in a safe.

The movement and strap complete the idea

Inside is the Sellita SW266-1 automatic calibre, a movement Louis Erard has used for its regulator watches.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 38-hour power reserve.

The movement also carries an openworked oscillating weight with the Louis Erard symbol, visible through the display back.

Both new Unfrogettable editions are fitted to black Himeji Kurozan calfskin leather straps, known for their textured “black diamond” finish and Urushi lacquer treatment.

The turquoise model receives purple stitching on the lugs and lining, while the brown model uses black stitching for a more tonal finish.

Quick-release spring bars and a grade 5 titanium pin buckle round out the package.

Details & Specifications

The Unfrogettable works because it doesn’t treat playfulness as an excuse to ignore watchmaking structure.

It’s still a regulator, still mechanically coherent and still recognisably Louis Erard, but Chaykin’s frog turns the display into something more personal, strange and memorable.
