IWC is better known for cockpit instruments and motorsport associations than for fairways, but its latest chronograph takes the Pilot’s Watch into a distinctly golf-adjacent setting.
The new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 43 Olive Green IW378008 arrives as IWC continues its role as official timing partner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews.
It’s not a radical rethink of the model, and that’s part of the point. The update is about colour, wearability and a slightly softer character for one of IWC’s most familiar modern chronographs.

A Pilot’s Chronograph on the Links
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has become one of golf’s more distinctive fixtures, combining a DP World Tour professional event with a team format that pairs professional and amateur players.
Held each autumn in St Andrews, Scotland, it gives IWC a sporting stage outside its more obvious Formula 1 orbit.
The connection is an unusual one, but the watch itself doesn’t try to become a golf watch in any literal sense.

Instead, IWC has taken its existing Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 43 and given it a palette that feels more at home on Scottish turf than a pit wall.
The Warmer Side of IWC Green
The stainless steel case remains the known 43mm format, with brushed and polished surfaces, a screw-in crown and 100 metres of water resistance.
At 14.8mm thick, it still wears with the presence expected from the larger Pilot’s Chronograph, rather than trying to pass as a slim dress-sports crossover.

The dial is where the new reference finds its identity.
IWC has used green before across the Pilot’s family, but this olive tone brings a warmer, more grounded look than the brighter or deeper greens often seen in the collection.
Gold-plated hands add contrast without pushing the watch into overtly precious territory, while the white printed numerals, tracks and markers keep the familiar Pilot’s Watch legibility intact.

Super-LumiNova is used on the hands and dial markings, and the layout stays classic IWC chronograph fare, with three counters and a day-date indication.
Calibre 69385 and Everyday Practicality
Inside is IWC’s calibre 69385, an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement visible through the sapphire caseback.
The movement runs at 4Hz and delivers a power reserve of around 46 hours when fully wound.

Finishing includes perlage, circular stripes and an openworked rotor, giving the watch a mechanical view that suits its positioning in IWC’s modern chronograph range.
The watch is delivered on a five-link stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp, and IWC also includes an olive green rubber strap with a steel pin buckle.
The brand’s EasX-CHANGE system makes the swap tool-free, which is useful for a watch that can move between a steel-bracelet daily piece and a more relaxed rubber-strap weekend option.

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 43 Olive Green works best as a familiar IWC given a more relaxed seasonal character, rather than as a niche sports tie-in.
For collectors who like the larger chronograph case and want something less monochrome than the standard Pilot’s formula, this olive dial brings just enough distinction without disturbing the watch’s utilitarian core.
