GoS Watches has always worked best when its watches feel inseparable from Sweden.
With the Fullerö Sword, the independent watchmaker turns to one of the country’s most evocative historical objects, a Viking-age blade discovered near Uppsala, and translates its metalwork into a contemporary wristwatch.
The result is unmistakably GoS, but it also feels more archaeological than decorative, with the dial carrying much of the story.

A Viking blade reimagined by GoS
Founded in 2007 by Patrik Sjögren, GoS Watches has built its identity around Nordic craft, landscape and mythology rather than borrowed Swiss convention.
The Fullerö Sword takes its name from an ancient weapon unearthed in 1969 in Fullerö, a village roughly ten kilometres north of Uppsala.
The region has a deep connection with ironmaking, and the sword itself is regarded as a significant surviving example of Scandinavian pattern-welded craftsmanship from around 1,000 years ago.
For GoS, that history is more than a design cue.
The brand’s long-running collaboration with master bladesmith Conny Persson gives the watch a direct material link to the techniques that shaped the original weapon.
The Damascus dial is the main event
The dial is where the Fullerö Sword earns its name.
Persson and Sjögren set out to echo the pattern-welded core of the ancient blade, adapting the principle of twisted layered steel to the much smaller stage of a watch dial.
The final construction uses rods with seventeen individual layers, separated by thin nickel sheets to sharpen the contrast in the metal.
Under shifting light, the surface moves between charcoal, graphite and silver, giving the dial a depth that conventional finishing can’t really imitate.
Each dial is naturally unique because the forging process leaves its own fingerprint in the steel.
GoS offers the Fullerö Sword in three dial versions named Raw Steel, Midnight Blue and Glowing Steel.
Midnight Blue is especially suited to the concept, deepening the shadows in the Damascus pattern and giving the watch a colder Nordic character.
Rather than placing traditional applied markers on top of the dial, GoS uses a sapphire index ring around the perimeter.
The hour indexes are machined into the inner chamfer, while the minute markers sit along the outer chamfer.
Behind that ring is a luminescent circlet made with 3D Lumicast® technology, glowing orange in the dark to suggest heated steel straight from the forge.
Spear-shaped hour and minute hands, along with a slender central seconds hand, complete the sword connection without turning the watch into costume design.
Case finishing with Nordic detail
The Fullerö Sword is housed in a 41.5 mm stainless steel case with a mix of satin surfaces, polished recesses and engraved decoration.
GoS has used its four-line braided motif around the case, inlaying each engraved line with dark enamel.
The sides are satin finished, with deeply recessed grooves polished to create a sharper play of light.
The crown is also polished and carries the brand’s triskele emblem within a recessed vertical flank.
At the back, the braided motif continues around the sapphire display window, connecting the case architecture to the dial’s metalworking story.
A domed sapphire crystal sits over the dial with double-sided anti-reflective coating, while the outer surface receives added hardening for improved scratch resistance.
A customised La Joux-Perret automatic calibre
Inside the Fullerö Sword is the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, customised for GoS.
The calibre offers an approximately 65-hour power reserve, which gives the watch practical weekend-friendly usability.
Through the display back, the movement is presented in an anthracite tone with Côtes de Genève across the bridges.
A skeletonised tungsten rotor carries the GoS triskele emblem in gold, adding a recognisable house signature without overwhelming the view.
The watch is paired with a handcrafted black moose leather strap embossed with the GoS braided motif.
The pin buckle is made from Damascus steel, a small but fitting continuation of the watch’s central material language.
