The Senator line is usually Glashütte Original at its most composed, a place for clean German watchmaking codes and the brand’s Panorama Date.
The new Senator Aventurine pair takes a quieter route, trading complications and markers for a dial material that does most of the talking.
In red gold and platinum, these are precious-metal dress watches with a more artistic temperament than the familiar Senator blueprint suggests.

At a glance
- Glashütte Original has introduced two time-only Senator Aventurine models in red gold and platinum.
- Each watch uses an aventurine glass dial with no indices, date or central seconds, keeping the display to hours and minutes.
- The automatic calibre 36-16 offers a 100-hour power reserve, with availability planned from October 2026 and pricing to be confirmed.
A Senator reduced to two hands
The Senator collection is closely associated with traditional German watchmaking and Glashütte Original’s Panorama Date, but these new models move in the opposite direction.
There’s no date window, no seconds hand and no hour markers.
That restraint gives the aventurine glass dials room to set the mood, while the curved pear-shaped hands provide the only active indication of time.

The only dial text is the brand name and Glashütte i/SA, printed in glossy white.
Green Art Nouveau and blue Art Deco
The red gold version is paired with a deep green aventurine glass dial, which Glashütte Original connects to Art Nouveau’s interest in nature and organic form.
The platinum model takes a cooler direction with a blue aventurine dial, framed by the brand around an Art Deco palette.

On both watches, the reverse side of the dial disc is coated in black lacquer to heighten the sense of depth.
The hands match the case material visually, with red gold hands for the red gold model and white gold hands for the platinum version.
Both cases measure 40mm across and 10.2mm thick, with a 47.09mm lug-to-lug span.

The case finishing alternates between polished surfaces on the bezel and lugs and satin brushing along the flanks, while sapphire crystal is used on both sides.
A dedicated take on calibre 36
Inside is the manufacture calibre 36-16, a variant of Glashütte Original’s automatic calibre 36 that was developed for this two-hand display.
The movement keeps the silicon hairspring and 100-hour power reserve associated with the calibre 36 family.

Through the caseback, the movement shows familiar Glashütte finishing cues, including Glashütte stripes on the three-quarter plate, a hand-engraved balance cock, sunburst finishing on the winding wheels and the brand’s double-G skeletonised rotor with a solid gold mass.
Glashütte Original says the calibre 36-16 is assembled from start to finish by a single watchmaker.

The Senator Aventurine models should speak to collectors who like Glashütte Original’s disciplined watchmaking but want something less formal than the collection’s date-led signatures.

They’re still unmistakably restrained, but the aventurine dials give the Senator a more atmospheric side without crowding the design.
