Girard-Perregaux has expanded the Laureato Chronograph line with a limited 42mm steel-and-rose-gold model featuring a chocolate brown hobnail dial and matching rubber strap. The watch is limited to 50 pieces and is priced at CHF 24,300 or EUR 26,800.
A modern two-tone take on the Laureato
The Laureato has been Girard-Perregaux’s integrated luxury sports watch since 1975. The original model arrived as a chronometer-certified quartz sports watch, positioned in the early years of the integrated-bracelet sports watch category. Girard-Perregaux brought the Laureato back in 2016 as a limited edition for its 225th anniversary, before making it a full collection in 2017.
This new Laureato Chronograph 42mm draws on that history with a two-tone execution, but the result is more contemporary than vintage. The case is made from 904L stainless steel, while the octagonal bezel, screw-down crown and pushers are rose gold. The combination is paired with a chocolate brown dial and a brown rubber strap, giving the watch a warmer and more assertive look than a conventional all-steel sports chronograph.
Case architecture and finishing
The case measures 42mm in diameter and 12.16mm thick. It follows the Laureato’s familiar tonneau-shaped profile and carries 100 metres of water resistance, supported by a screw-down crown and screw-down caseback.
Girard-Perregaux uses 904L stainless steel for the case, a material noted for its higher chromium content and improved corrosion resistance compared with the more common 316L steel. The case has horizontal brushing across its surfaces, with polished bevels adding contrast.
The rose gold bezel is one of the key visual elements. Its octagonal form sits above a polished round gold base, while the bezel itself is circular-brushed. The rose gold pushers and crown continue the two-tone theme and stand out clearly against the brushed steel case.
Chocolate brown hobnail dial
The dial is finished in chocolate brown and stamped with a hobnail, or Clou de Paris, pattern. The texture gives the dial more depth and reinforces the connection with the patterned rubber strap.
Three chronograph sub-dials sit on the dial, each with broad concentric rings. A date window is positioned at 4:30 and uses a brown background to better integrate with the surrounding dial surface.
The baton hour markers, hour hand and minute hand are rose gold-plated and filled with white luminescent material. The central chronograph seconds hand and the hands for the counters are also gold-plated, keeping the dial details consistent with the rose gold exterior elements.
Automatic chronograph movement
Inside the watch is the in-house calibre GP03300-2761, a modular automatic chronograph movement derived from the GP 3000 family. The movement measures 25.6mm wide and 6.50mm thick, helping keep the overall case height relatively restrained for an automatic chronograph.
The calibre runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4Hz, and provides a 46-hour power reserve. It is made from 419 components and uses 63 jewels. Functions include hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph timing with 30-minute and 12-hour counters, and date.
The movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal window in the screwed caseback. Its finishing includes circular graining, Côtes de Genève, snailing and polished bevels.
Rubber strap and limited availability
The watch is fitted with a brown rubber strap that echoes the dial with a hobnail pattern down the centre. It closes with a steel triple-folding clasp.
