Formex’s Essence Ceramica line has always sat in a useful space between hard-wearing sports watch and enthusiast-driven engineering piece.
The new Essence Ceramica COSC 41mm Dark Matter Redshift pushes that formula into a sharper, more motorsport-adjacent register, pairing black ceramic with a dark meteorite dial and red detailing.
It’s still recognisably an Essence, but the mood is more technical and a little more aggressive.

At a glance
- Formex has introduced the Essence Ceramica COSC 41mm Dark Matter Redshift in black zirconium oxide ceramic.
- The watch uses a solid Muonionalusta meteorite dial with black-gold galvanic plating and red accents.
- Production is limited to 100 pieces annually, with delivery expected at the end of November 2026.
Black ceramic with a lower-key finish
The case is made entirely from black, scratch-resistant zirconium oxide ceramic, continuing the material direction of the Essence Ceramica introduced earlier in 2025.
For this Redshift edition, Formex has moved to a sandblasted finish with a fine texture intended to absorb light and make fingerprints less visible.
The watch measures 41mm across, 11.2mm thick and 46.2mm lug-to-lug, which keeps the profile comparatively compact for a contemporary ceramic sports watch.

Formex’s patented Case Suspension System is also present, using a suspended titanium container around the movement.
The case has a screw-down crown, sapphire crystals front and back with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating, and a 100-metre water-resistance rating.
There are polished details too, including diamond-polished bevels and a newly cut lower-bezel facet that gives the otherwise stealthy case a more defined edge.

A dark meteorite dial with red performance cues
The dial is the centre of the watch, and Formex has chosen Muonionalusta meteorite rather than a conventional patterned surface.
Instead of using thin meteorite slices bonded to a brass plate, the brand uses a solid slice of meteorite that allows the dial feet to be soldered directly to it.
An ultra-fine black-gold galvanic plating, measuring under one micron thick, darkens the material while preserving the Widmanstätten structure that makes meteorite dials so visually distinct.

The Redshift name is picked up through red accents on the logos, flange and seconds hand.
Gunmetal-finished hands and applied hour markers are filled with Super-LumiNova, giving the dial a restrained but functional contrast against the dark meteorite base.
COSC-certified power and a ceramic bracelet
Inside is the Sellita SW200-2 Power+, a newer evolution of the SW200 architecture with a stated 65-hour power reserve.

The longer reserve comes via revisions to the gear train, winding system and regulating mechanism.
In this watch, the movement is chronometer-certified by COSC, with an average daily accuracy range of -4 to +6 seconds per day.
The Dark Matter Redshift is delivered on a solid ceramic bracelet finished to match the case, combining sandblasted surfaces with polished bevels.

The solid ceramic clasp includes micro-adjustment across 5mm in four steps, and the bracelet can be swapped for optional rubber, nylon or leather straps.
