Favre Leuba Gives the Deep Raider Day Date a Two-Tone Turn

Favre Leuba’s latest Deep Raider Day Date leans into a more polished kind of utility.

The new two-tone editions keep the 300-metre diver credentials intact, but add yellow gold PVD accents across the bezel, crown, bracelet and dial for a dressier take on the brand’s revived tool-watch language.

It’s still a practical sports watch at heart, just one with enough visual warmth to move more easily between weekday wear and weekend use.

The Deep Raider Day Date follows the modern direction Favre Leuba has taken since its 2024 global relaunch under Patrik Hoffmann, where historical references are being reworked with more contemporary proportions and daily-wear practicality.

The two-tone case measures 40mm across, 12.5mm thick and 48.2mm from lug to lug, which keeps the watch within sensible territory for a professional dive watch.

Its 316L stainless steel case combines brushed and polished finishing, with yellow gold PVD applied to the fluted bezel, screw-down crown and central bracelet links.

The contrast is deliberately sporty rather than formal, helped by the ceramic bezel insert, which is matched to the dial colour and marked with golden numerals.

A double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating sits over the dial, while the screw-down caseback carries the hourglass emblem and wave pattern.

Gradient dials and a practical day-date display

Three dial versions are offered, covering blue, green and black.

The blue and green variants use a brushed sunray finish with a gradient effect, while the black dial keeps a solid finish for a more direct look.

All three use a two-part sandwich construction, with blue-emission Super-LumiNova C1 X1 showing through the elongated recessed hour markers.

The central hands and hourglass logo at 6 o’clock are treated with yellow gold PVD, tying the dial back to the case hardware without overwhelming the design.

At 3 o’clock, a rectangular aperture displays both the day and date on white discs, with the day available in English or German.

That detail gives the watch a useful everyday function while staying close to the brand’s functional dive-watch character.

From Deep Blue heritage to modern wearability

The Deep Raider family draws a clear line to Favre Leuba’s 1964 Deep Blue, a 200-metre dive watch known for its Bakelite timing bezel.

Rather than producing only strict vintage reissues, the brand has used that heritage across several related models, including the Deep Blue Revival, the Deep Raider Renaissance and the Deep Raider Power Reserve.

This Day Date version sits on the more contemporary side of that spectrum.

The 300-metre rating, screw-down crown and unidirectional bezel make it a genuine dive-capable watch, while the integrated three-link bracelet and quick-change compatibility with Deep Raider Renaissance rubber straps make it easier to adapt day to day.

The FLD05 automatic movement

Inside is the Favre Leuba FLD05 calibre, an automatic movement using the Sellita SW220-1 as its base.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 26 jewels and provides a 38-hour power reserve.

The movement handles central hours, minutes and seconds along with the day and date display, keeping the watch focused on useful functions rather than decorative complication.
