Direnzo has built its identity around mid-century machines, sharp geometry and compact independent-watch pricing.
The DRZ 08 Cosmonaire pushes that language into GMT territory for the first time, and it does so without reaching for the usual pilot-watch or dive-watch template.
Instead, this is a 39mm travel watch with an elliptical bezel, a layered dial and a pair of limited editions that should give collectors something to argue over.

At a glance
- Direnzo’s DRZ 08 Cosmonaire is the brand’s first GMT watch.
- Key features include a 39mm steel case, elliptical bezel, layered Space Age dial and Sellita SW-330-2 GMT movement.
- Pre-sale pricing starts at 1,200 CHF, with delivery expected in mid January 2027.
A Space Age GMT with a softer profile
The Cosmonaire name combines cosmos and traveler, which neatly captures the watch’s retro-futurist brief.
Direnzo’s references have long included mid-century race cars and aircraft, but this model moves closer to the optimistic Space Age design vocabulary of the 1960s and 1970s.
The most distinctive external feature is the elliptical bezel, which changes the visual shape of the watch depending on the viewing angle.

It gives the rounded case a more aerodynamic character than a conventional circular bezel, while the dimensions keep the watch firmly in everyday-wear territory.
The case measures 39mm across without the crown, 46mm lug to lug and 10mm thick including the sapphire crystal.
The dial does more than carry a GMT hand
The dial has a subtly bowl-shaped construction that draws the eye toward the centre.

Applied hour markers add height, while an engraved ring filled with Super-LumiNova creates a luminous perimeter in low light.
At the centre, Direnzo uses a laser-engraved panier pattern beneath glossy lacquer, giving the surface a shifting texture as the wrist moves.
It’s a lot of visual work for a watch at this price level, but the approach is consistent with the brand’s preference for strong forms rather than anonymous utility.

Six versions including meteorite and an Isotope collaboration
The standard range includes blue, brown and green dial versions with BGW9 Super-LumiNova.
There is also a brown dial model with a gold PVD case and bracelet.
The two limited editions are where the collection becomes more specialist.

One uses a heated Muonionalusta meteorite dial with orange lume and is limited to 60 pieces.
Muonionalusta is an iron meteorite found in northern Sweden, and the heating process brings colour into the dial material, so the examples are not expected to look identical.
The Isotope x Direnzo edition is limited to 40 pieces and uses a grey dial, white lume and heat-blued steel hands.

The collaboration comes from a connection between Direnzo founder Sergio Godoy Di Renzo and José from Isotope, two independent brands with clear design identities of their own.

The Cosmonaire’s appeal will depend on how strongly its elliptical bezel lands in person, but the fundamentals are clear.

It brings Direnzo’s design-led character into the GMT category with compact proportions, a recognised Swiss movement and enough variation to suit both practical travel-watch buyers and collectors looking for the more unusual limited editions.
