David Candaux has never made quiet watches, but the DC6 Wildfire pushes his architectural language into warmer territory.
The new eight-piece edition takes the Le Solliat watchmaker’s carbon-clad DC6 format and gives it a bright orange dial inspired by the first sunlight hitting the spruce ridges around his workshop.
It’s still very much a Candaux creation, with a basin-shaped case, a crown hidden at 6 o’clock and a 30-degree inclined flying tourbillon sitting under its own sapphire dome.

At a glance
- David Candaux has introduced the DC6 Wildfire as an eight-piece limited edition of his carbon and titanium tourbillon watch.
- The watch combines a 45mm UD carbon and titanium case with a vivid orange anodised titanium dial and an inclined flying tourbillon.
- It is priced at CHF 248,000 and comes with a 10-year warranty.
A sunrise-orange dial inside the DC6 architecture
The Wildfire keeps the DC6’s unusual dial layout, with time displayed at 3 o’clock and the tourbillon balancing it at 9 o’clock.
Two sapphire domes rise above those focal points, giving the watch a sculptural presence that’s closer to miniature mechanical architecture than a flat traditional display.
The hour-and-minute dial is semi-spherical titanium, hand-finished with a sunburst pattern before receiving its bright orange anodisation.

Unlike the darker DC6 Night Forest, this edition lets the orange run at full intensity across the dial rather than fading at the edge.
Black Arabic numerals, indices and a graduated minute track keep the display legible, while the natural titanium plates carry Candaux’s Pointes du Risoux guilloché.
At 12 o’clock, the power reserve indication includes the brand’s Le Cœur et l’Esprit inscription.

UD carbon over a titanium core
The case measures 45mm across and 11.29mm thick, which sounds substantial until the weight comes into view.
Thanks to its titanium and UD carbon construction, the DC6 Wildfire weighs 45 grams.
The movement sits inside a titanium chamber for rigidity and water resistance, while the bezel, middle case and caseback area are dressed in unidirectional carbon.

UD carbon differs from chopped or randomly arranged carbon composites because its continuous fibres are laid in successive layers, giving the material a more directional visual character.
Titanium stretchers run through the full length of the case and extend into the lugs, mechanically securing the construction without adhesives.
The curved side lugs are microblasted, satin-finished and hand-polished, a mix of treatments that suits Candaux’s habit of making technical structure part of the visual identity.

The retractable Magic Crown sits at 6 o’clock and is made from 31 components, preserving the clean perimeter of the basin-shaped case.
The 30-degree flying tourbillon remains the centrepiece
The DC6 Wildfire is powered by Candaux’s in-house hand-wound H74 calibre, developed and assembled in Le Solliat.
The movement uses titanium bridges and mainplate, and it is inclined by 3 degrees in relation to the case.

Its single-axis flying tourbillon is inclined at 30 degrees, exposing the regulating organ to a wider range of positions as the watch moves on the wrist.
The tourbillon completes one rotation every 60 seconds and carries the small seconds display.
For this edition, the tourbillon cage is blue anodised titanium, built from 29 components and weighing just 0.35 grams.

The H74 calibre is made from 287 components including 47 jewels, with two coaxial fast-rotating barrels coupled in series delivering a 55-hour power reserve.
Finishing remains a major part of the appeal, from hand-polished bevels and mirror-polished inward angles to straight graining, pearling and Candaux’s Côtes du Solliat decoration.

An eight-piece watch for the independent collector
The DC6 Wildfire isn’t trying to be an all-purpose complicated watch.

It’s aimed at collectors who respond to independent engineering, assertive case construction and visible hand-finishing, with colour used as part of the concept rather than decoration alone.
At CHF 248,000 and with only eight pieces planned, it sits firmly in the realm of highly specialised independent watchmaking, where the attraction is as much about the maker’s mechanical vocabulary as it is about the complication itself.
