Cadillac’s latest Escalade special edition takes the blacked-out formula in a more measured direction.
Built for Japan and limited to 20 units, the Escalade Noir Edition is based on the Escalade Sport and combines matte and gloss-black finishes rather than covering the SUV in a single uniform treatment.
It’s a subtle distinction, but on a vehicle as visually imposing as the Escalade, selective restraint can make the difference.

At a glance
- Cadillac has introduced the Escalade Noir Edition in Japan, limited to 20 units.
- The special edition uses XPEL Stealth film on selected exterior panels alongside gloss-black elements and 22-inch black alloy wheels.
- Orders opened through General Motors Japan on October 29, with pricing set at ¥21 million, approximately $133,000.
A more selective take on matte black
The Noir Edition doesn’t simply wrap the entire Escalade in matte finish.
Cadillac has used XPEL’s Stealth paint-protection film on specific sections, including the bonnet, body sides and rear liftgate.
That leaves the grille surround and lower body panels in gloss finish, while the mirrors, roof and window frames remain untouched.

The result is a layered treatment that gives the large SUV more contrast than a full matte conversion would, with the finish doing the visual work without changing the Escalade’s core shape.
The 22-inch, 18-spoke alloy wheels are finished in After Midnight black, reinforcing the darker theme without introducing a new wheel design.
Inside the Japan-only Noir Edition
The cabin keeps to the Escalade’s familiar Jet Black theme, with a few edition-specific cues.
Cadillac has added a special badge on the passenger side and Noir Edition floor mats with silver piping.
The 55-inch curved LED display carries over unchanged, which makes sense given how central it is to the current Escalade’s cabin identity.
There are no claimed mechanical changes for the Noir Edition.
Power comes from Cadillac’s familiar 6.2-litre V8, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and selectable four-wheel drive.
A small-run Escalade for Japanese buyers
General Motors Japan began accepting orders for the Escalade Noir Edition on October 29.
Production is limited to 20 units, and the model is available exclusively through Cadillac dealerships in Japan.
At ¥21 million, approximately $133,000, it sits as a market-specific collector edition rather than a broad global variant.
The launch also fits into a wider run of Escalade specials.
Cadillac recently introduced the Escalade-V 125th Anniversary Collector Series, priced at $239,000 and limited to 252 examples, as well as the Escalade V Checo Perez Edition, a run of 11 units tied to Cadillac F1 team driver Sergio “Checo” Perez and his racing number.
