The new BYD Seal 07 is moving from launch build-up to showroom reality in China.
The second-generation sedan has started reaching dealerships ahead of customer deliveries planned for November, with a sharper design direction and a powertrain split that should broaden its appeal beyond the outgoing formula.
The headline version is the fully electric model, which produces 400 hp and is claimed by BYD to offer up to 718 km of WLTP range.

At a glance
- The second-generation BYD Seal 07 has started reaching dealerships in China ahead of planned November customer deliveries.
- It will be offered with plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, with the EV rated at 400 hp and a 240 km/h top speed.
- Dealer billing notices reportedly list a preliminary allocation price of 180,000 yuan, though BYD has not announced final showroom pricing.
Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 gives the Seal a cleaner face
The Seal 07 adopts BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language, which gives the sedan a more technical and streamlined look.
At the front, split wave-shaped headlights sit above a closed-off grille, a visual cue that fits both the electric positioning and the broader move toward cleaner EV-era surfacing.
At the rear, a full-width light bar stretches across the tail, adding a more contemporary signature without moving too far from the Seal family identity.
A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is also visible, pointing to the use of BYD’s God’s Eye B driver-assistance system.
Plug-in hybrid range or 400 hp electric performance
The Seal 07’s biggest change is the choice between a plug-in hybrid setup and a fully electric version.
The PHEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 160 kW electric motor, equal to 214 hp, and a 38.029 kWh LFP battery.
BYD claims the plug-in hybrid can cover 245 km on electric power under the WLTC cycle, which would make it useful for drivers who want EV-style daily running without committing fully to charging as their only energy source.
The pure electric Seal 07 is the quicker version on paper.
It produces 400 hp, reaches a claimed 240 km/h top speed, and is rated by BYD for up to 718 km of WLTP range.
China deliveries are planned for November
The car’s arrival at dealers suggests BYD is now preparing the retail rollout in its home market.
Dealer billing notices reportedly put the preliminary allocation price at 180,000 yuan, or around $25,250.
That figure is not the final showroom price, so buyers will need to wait for BYD’s official pricing announcement before the car’s market position is fully clear.
