BYD is moving deeper into the luxury EV space with the Da Han, a new flagship electric sedan aimed at buyers who want range, power and a properly appointed rear cabin.
Presales are now open in China, where the Da Han starts at 249,900 yuan, or roughly $37,170, putting some very large numbers behind a surprisingly accessible entry price.

A flagship sedan with a more formal BYD face
The Da Han adopts BYD’s latest Dragon Face design language, but its proportions and detailing point to a more executive brief than the brand’s mainstream sedans.
Slim headlights sit above a chrome Dragon Whiskers panel, while semi-hidden door handles keep the body sides clean.
Buyers in China can choose from five exterior colours, with 20-inch and 21-inch wheel options available depending on specification.
The hardware underneath also signals a more serious luxury positioning, with air suspension and rear-wheel steering both fitted to sharpen the balance between comfort and low-speed manoeuvrability.
A cabin built around screens, sound and rear-seat comfort
Inside, the Da Han leans heavily into the high-tech limousine idea rather than simply chasing a minimalist EV look.
A three-screen dashboard anchors the front of the cabin, while real-wood trim gives the interior a more traditional luxury cue.
The sound system can be specified with up to 31 speakers, a number that places cabin acoustics near the centre of the car’s appeal.
Rear passengers also get electrochromic windows, allowing the glass transparency to be adjusted at the push of a button.
Big batteries, big output and long claimed range
The entry-level Da Han uses a single electric motor producing 496 hp, paired with a 102 kWh battery.
In that configuration, BYD claims a CLTC driving range of up to 1,008 km, equivalent to about 626 miles.
The all-wheel-drive model raises output to 764 hp through a dual-motor setup.
Even with the extra performance, the dual-motor version still carries a claimed CLTC range of 880 km, or roughly 546 miles.
Those figures place the Da Han in an unusual position, blending super-sedan output with the kind of range numbers usually used to sell long-distance efficiency rather than outright pace.

The Da Han looks like another sign that China’s domestic EV brands are no longer content to compete only on value, with BYD now packaging range, output and comfort in a sedan that aims much higher than its price might suggest.
