Breguet’s Classique Souscription was one of the clearest statements of the brand’s 250th anniversary, not because it was complicated, but because it wasn’t.
The single-hand wristwatch distilled one of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s most commercially important ideas into a modern Classique case, and now it returns in 950 platinum with a cooler, more reserved character.
It’s still a historically minded watch, but the shift to white metal changes the mood considerably.

A pocket-watch idea refined for the wrist
The original souscription pocket watch appeared in 1796, after Abraham-Louis Breguet returned to Paris following his time in Switzerland during the French Revolution.
Its importance was practical as much as horological.
Breguet created a more standardised watch with a white enamel dial, a single hand and a comparatively simple movement architecture, then paired it with a subscription-based sales method.

Over more than 30 years, around 700 souscription watches were made using this approach.
The modern Classique Souscription translates that concept into wristwatch form without leaning on nostalgia alone.
The first anniversary edition used Breguet gold, a dedicated alloy for the 250th anniversary collection, with a white dial and black numerals.

This platinum edition keeps the same technical foundation, but its visual language is colder, quieter and more formal.
Platinum gives the Classique case a sharper tone
The case measures 40mm across and 10.8mm thick, with a three-part construction and lugs integrated into the case middle.
There are no soldered straight lugs and no fluted caseband, giving the watch a cleaner profile than many familiar Breguet dress pieces.

The sides are finely brushed, while the domed bezel is polished.
Above the dial is a sapphire crystal with a chevé profile, a nod to a Breguet crystal style that used a flatter central surface with a bevelled edge.
The sapphire display back is framed by a Quai de l’Horloge guilloché motif, giving the rear of the watch its own architectural border.

The use of platinum also carries historical weight, as Abraham-Louis Breguet is believed to have been among the first watchmakers to adopt the metal in watchmaking, including in some souscription pocket watches.
Blue enamel and a single Breguet hand
The dial uses a gold base covered in white grand feu enamel.
For this platinum model, the Breguet logo, Arabic numerals and minute track are executed in blue petit feu enamel rather than the black markings used on the earlier gold edition.

The time is read from one flame-blued steel Breguet hand, open-tipped and curved by hand.
It’s a display that asks for a slower read than a conventional two-hand dial, which is very much the point.
At 6 o’clock, a secret Breguet signature is visible only at certain angles.

It is produced using a diamond-point pantograph, a precision tool with articulated arms, echoing a traditional anti-counterfeiting detail associated with the house.
The VS00 calibre keeps the pocket-watch architecture in view
The hand-wound calibre VS00 is visible through the display back and retains the Breguet gold coating used for the 2025 version.
Its layout is built around a large central ratchet held by an oversized triangular bridge.

Additional stepped bridges carry the first wheel and balance wheel, with two smaller triangular bridges for the gear train.
The construction recalls the spirit of Breguet’s Tradition watches, where the mechanics are treated as a visible part of the design rather than hidden decoration.
The movement runs at 3Hz and offers a 96-hour power reserve.

It also uses a non-magnetic Nivachron hairspring with a Breguet overcoil, a modern anti-shock device shaped like an old pare-chute and classic Breguet five-spoke wheels.
