Bell & Ross Gives the BR-03 GMT a Green Lum Makeover

Bell & Ross has built much of its modern identity around legible cockpit instruments, and the BR-03 GMT Green Lum leans directly into that language.

The new limited edition takes the square-cased dual-time watch and gives it a stronger night-time personality, pairing a green-to-black dial with extensive Super-LumiNova C3 across the bezel, hands and markers.

It’s still very much a practical GMT, but this version has a more theatrical edge than the standard model.

A familiar cockpit case with a sharper finish

The BR-03 GMT Green Lum keeps the 42mm by 42mm stainless steel case architecture that defines the collection.

That means the familiar rounded square case, circular dial opening and four exposed corner screws, a design shorthand Bell & Ross has long used to connect its watches to cockpit instrumentation.

At 11.3mm thick, it remains relatively restrained for a square pilot-style watch, and the 100-metre water resistance gives it everyday usefulness beyond the travel desk.

The case combines satin-finished surfaces with polished bevels, giving the utilitarian shape a more refined profile than earlier, more tool-forward interpretations.

A flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial, while a solid steel back keeps the construction straightforward.

The Green Lum dial brings the night-sky drama

The defining change is the dial, which shifts vertically from green into black in a gradient meant to recall an aurora-lit night sky.

Bell & Ross has used its Lum series to explore the visual and practical possibilities of Super-LumiNova, and here the material is used across the transferred numerals, indices, hour and minute hands, GMT hand and bezel markings.

The result should be especially vivid in low light, with Super-LumiNova C3 emitting a green glow that suits the watch’s military-aviation character.

The blackened hour and minute hands make this edition feel a little more tactical than the standard BR-03 GMT, which uses polished steel hands.

There are also small aviation cues throughout, including a seconds hand with an aeroplane-shaped tip and an openworked triangular 24-hour GMT hand.

A circular date window sits at 4:30, preserving the functional brief without overly disturbing the instrument-style layout.

A dual-time watch for office GMT users

Inside is the Bell & Ross BR-CAL.303, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW330-2.

This is an office-style GMT configuration, meaning the crown independently adjusts the central 24-hour hand rather than the local hour hand.

For travellers who frequently jump time zones, a flyer-style GMT can be more convenient, but this setup works well for tracking another market, home time or a second city from a fixed location.

The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 25 jewels and offers a 54-hour power reserve.

The bidirectional rotating 24-hour bezel adds another layer of dual-time practicality, and on this edition it uses a polished black ceramic insert with luminous C3 markings.

Straps, edition size and positioning

The BR-03 GMT Green Lum is delivered with two straps, a black rubber strap and an ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric strap.

Both options suit the watch’s more tactical personality, with the rubber leaning sportier and the fabric reinforcing the field-watch mood.

Limited to 500 pieces, the model is priced at EUR 4,900.

For collectors already drawn to the BR-03 shape, this is one of the more distinctive recent GMT executions, especially if nighttime legibility and a stronger visual identity matter as much as the second time zone.

The BR-03 GMT Green Lum doesn’t try to reinvent Bell & Ross’s square pilot watch, and that’s part of its appeal.
