Baltic and SpaceOne have unveiled the Seconde Majeure, a made-to-order Parisian collaboration that turns a traditional regulator layout into something sharper, stranger and more architectural.
A 38.5mm Case Built for the Collaboration
The Seconde Majeure is not a familiar Baltic case with a new dial, nor a straight SpaceOne design with another name on it; its 38.5mm by 12.3mm case was created for this project in 904L stainless steel, with a 12 o’clock crown, a concave bezel and alternating brushed and polished surfaces.
Sapphire Discs and a Dominant Seconds Hand
The dial uses a regulator-style display with the jumping hours shown on a sapphire disc at 12 o’clock, the minutes on a second sapphire disc at 6 o’clock and the seconds handled by a large blue central hand, giving the watch its Seconde Majeure name.
Maillechort in Brushed or Charbonné Finishes
A maillechort plate frames the display and comes in two treatments: a restrained vertically brushed version priced at €2,500 excluding taxes, or a hand-applied Charbonné finish with a more turbulent texture at €3,500 excluding taxes.
A Théo Auffret Jump-Hour Module Inside
The automatic movement uses the Soprod P024 with a jumping-hour complication module developed by Théo Auffret, running at 4 Hz with a 42-hour power reserve, while a solid engraved caseback marks the production number.
Orders are open only from May 12 to May 17, with production determined by that window, making this a compelling piece for collectors drawn to independent French watchmaking, unusual time displays and collaborations that produce a genuinely new object rather than a simple co-signed dial.
