Yema’s Navygraf Barracuda Brings a Submarine Edge to the CMM.20 Diver

Yema’s latest Navygraf takes the French brand’s modern dive watch into more tactical waters.

Created with the French Marine Nationale, the Navygraf Barracuda CMM.20 Limited Edition honours France’s Barracuda-class nuclear attack submarines and the crews behind them, while keeping the compact proportions and manufacture movement that have made the recent Navygraf line more interesting to enthusiasts.

It’s a watch with clear military cues, but the more compelling part is how Yema has folded those references into a wearable, technically ambitious diver rather than a commemorative object.

The Barracuda keeps the current Navygraf’s useful footprint, with a 39mm stainless steel case and a 46mm lug-to-lug measurement.

That size matters, because it gives the watch proper dive-watch presence without drifting into oversized tool-watch territory.

The case is brushed with polished bevels, and the familiar angular lugs and integrated crown guards remain central to the Navygraf silhouette.

Water resistance is rated to 300 metres, supported by a screw-down crown carrying the Marine Nationale logo.

The bezel is unidirectional and uses a forged carbon insert, moving the watch away from the more conventional blue-and-steel personality of earlier Navygraf Marine Nationale models.

Its 120-click scale includes a vivid red first-20-minute sector, a detail tied to submarine synchronisation procedures and timed operations.

Forged carbon and red accents set the tone

The dial continues the forged carbon theme, giving each of the 400 watches its own marbled pattern of compressed carbon fibres.

Against that dark, irregular surface, Yema uses large applied hour markers and broad hands treated with Super-LumiNova C1 Grade A.

The red oversized arrow-style minute hand is the visual anchor of the dial and the most direct diving reference.

A matching red Barracuda signature at 6 o’clock keeps the colour scheme sharp without overwhelming the dial.

Yema has also given the caseback a distinctive treatment, using a red-tinted sapphire crystal inspired by the red lighting used inside submarines during night operations to help preserve night vision.

The back also carries the insignia of the French Navy’s submarine forces, making the naval connection more specific than a simple colourway or logo placement.

The CMM.20 micro-rotor movement remains the headline

Inside is Yema’s calibre CMM.20, an automatic micro-rotor movement developed with movement specialist Olivier Mory and assembled in Morteau, France.

The calibre uses a tungsten micro-rotor winding system on ball bearings and measures just 3.70mm thick.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 70-hour power reserve, with stated regulation of -3/+7 seconds per day.

For Yema, the CMM.20 has become a significant statement of intent, placing a more sophisticated in-house mechanical platform inside watches that remain relatively accessible in price.

The Barracuda is offered either on a black NATO strap for the full tactical effect or on a stainless steel bracelet with a micro-adjust clasp.

A five-year international warranty is included.
