Unimatic has built its reputation on watches that look ready to be used hard, from pared-back divers to field watches with little patience for ornament.
The new ICON Limited Edition series takes that familiar formula and removes almost everything visual that usually makes a tool watch instantly practical.
What’s left is a quartet of titanium watches that treat the Modello Uno and Modello Cinque less like instruments and more like studies in shape, proportion and negative space.

At a glance
- Unimatic has introduced four ICON limited editions across the Modello Uno diver and Modello Cinque field watch.
- Each model uses a black dial with an engraved black logo, skeletonised luminous hands and Grade 2 titanium construction.
- All four references are limited to 99 pieces each, with prices starting at £1,590.
A stripped-back take on two Unimatic staples
The ICON series is built around two core Unimatic silhouettes.
The Modello Uno brings the brand’s dive-watch architecture in a 40mm case, or 41.5mm when measured with the bezel, while the Modello Cinque uses a more compact 36mm field-watch format.
Both watches are made from Grade 2 titanium and offered either in sandblasted titanium or black DLC-coated titanium.
That material choice matters because it keeps the watches light on the wrist, even as the visual language becomes more sculptural than tactical.
The Modello Uno keeps the rotating bezel and adds a single lume dot, while the Modello Cinque uses a fixed bezel with no luminous bezel marking.
The dial is where the ICON idea lands
The most decisive change is on the dial.
Unimatic has removed the oversized luminous markers and minute scale that usually define the brand’s direct, utilitarian character.
In their place is a black dial interrupted only by an engraved Unimatic logo at 6 o’clock and white skeletonised hands.
The result isn’t conventionally practical, at least not in the usual tool-watch sense.
Instead, the watches draw attention to the outline of the case, the geometry of the hands and the tension between a blank dial surface and a highly recognisable case shape.
Super-LumiNova BG W9 gives the hands a blue glow in low light, adding a spectral quality that suits the otherwise severe presentation.
Workhorse mechanics under the minimalism
For all the conceptual restraint on the dial side, Unimatic hasn’t treated these as fragile design objects.
The Modello Uno ICON is rated to 600 metres of water resistance, while the Modello Cinque ICON is rated to 300 metres.
Both models run on the Sellita SW200-1b automatic calibre, a dateless version of the familiar SW200-1.
It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a stated power reserve of 38 to 41 hours.
The movement’s stated accuracy is plus or minus 12 seconds per day, putting the emphasis on dependable daily use rather than horological theatre.
Limited production and pricing
Each of the four ICON references is limited to 99 pieces.
The Modello Uno ICON in sandblasted titanium is priced at £1,700, while the black DLC version is £1,860.
The smaller Modello Cinque ICON starts at £1,590 in sandblasted titanium and rises to £1,750 for the DLC-coated edition.
Those prices put the ICON line in familiar Unimatic territory, but the appeal is more niche than usual.
This is a series for collectors who already understand the brand’s silhouette and want to see it pushed toward industrial minimalism without losing the underlying toughness.

The ICON series works because it doesn’t try to disguise what Unimatic is good at.
It simply takes the brand’s clearest forms, removes the usual visual instructions and leaves behind a watch that feels familiar, austere and surprisingly bold.
