The Armoury and Naoya Hida & Co. have introduced the Reference Type 4A-2 Floating Feathers, a 36mm limited-edition dress watch built around a hand-engraved Argentium silver dial. Limited to 10 pieces for 2026, the watch will be available only by in-store application in May 2026, with deliveries planned for 2027.

A third collaboration with a decorative focus

The Floating Feathers is the third collaborative model from The Armoury and Naoya Hida & Co. The Armoury, founded in Hong Kong in 2010 by Mark Cho and Alan See, now has a presence in Hong Kong and New York. Naoya Hida & Co., founded in 2012, is known for restrained, classically styled Japanese independent watchmaking with vintage Calatrava influences.

While an earlier collaboration, the Type2C-1 Lettercutter, centred on typography, this new model turns to nature. The dial motif was conceived by The Armoury co-founder Mark Cho and designer Elliot Hammer, drawing from mid-20th-century decorative watch dials, including cloisonné examples with birds, plants and natural scenes.

A hand-engraved Argentium silver dial

The central feature is the bead-blasted Argentium silver dial. Argentium is used by Naoya Hida & Co. for its resistance to tarnishing, and here it serves as the base for a detailed hand-engraved feather composition.

The engraving was executed by Keisuke Kano, Naoya Hida & Co.’s master engraver. Three feathers appear to float across the dial, with individual barbs and vane textures cut into the surface. The engraving exposes brighter silver beneath the blasted finish, creating contrast and shimmer without adding colour.

The dial is framed by an angled inner flange carrying 12 hand-polished spherical minute markers in 18k yellow gold. These markers are individually set into the minute track. The brand logo and scales are engraved by micro-milling machine.

Gold hands and a distinctive seconds display

Time is shown by the Type 4 collection’s sharply faceted, elongated diamond-shaped hands. For this watch, the hour and minute hands are made from solid 18k gold.

A blued steel central seconds hand adds contrast and includes a distinctive “caviar spoon” counterweight, a detail that gives the otherwise classical composition a recognizable Naoya Hida character.

A compact 904L steel case

The Type 4A-2 Floating Feathers uses a 36mm case in 904L stainless steel. It measures 42.9mm lug-to-lug and 11mm thick, with polished surfaces and polished lateral bevels.

The watch keeps vintage cues through details such as a box-shaped sapphire crystal with a vintage acrylic profile and a solid screw-down steel caseback. Water resistance is rated to 50 metres.

Inside: the manually wound calibre 3020CS

The watch is powered by calibre 3020CS, a hand-wound movement using the gear train of the Valjoux 7750/7751 architecture as its basis. Naoya Hida & Co. reworks it by removing the chronograph and self-winding systems, turning it into a centre-seconds three-hand movement.

The movement includes a custom-made three-quarter plate, a balance bridge and a newly designed click-and-click spring intended to improve the winding feel. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 22 jewels and offers approximately 45 hours of power reserve.

Strap, price and availability

The watch is fitted to a hand-stitched charcoal grey calf leather strap made by Jean Rousseau, paired with a 904L steel pin buckle. Lug width is 20mm.

Production is limited to 10 pieces for 2026. Applications must be completed and submitted in-store only between May 17 and May 20, 2026. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027.
