TAG Heuer’s latest Carrera collaboration lands where motorsport heritage and Japanese apparel culture overlap.
The Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa takes the 39mm Glassbox formula and reworks it with a red-and-white bicompax layout, a textured dial and a visible nod to one of Japan’s most distinctive racing names.
It’s limited, sharply styled and more than just a logo exercise.

Team Ikuzawa’s racing identity meets the Carrera Glassbox
Team Ikuzawa was established in Japan in the 1960s and has since grown beyond the paddock into a broader design-led brand.
Under Mai Ikuzawa, the team’s current head and a Creative Director at Bentley Motors as of 2025, its identity now folds together motorsport, Japanese graphic sensibility and apparel culture.
That makes the Carrera a logical platform.
TAG Heuer’s history is deeply tied to timing racing, while the modern Glassbox Carrera has become one of the brand’s most adaptable chronograph canvases.
Bamford Watch Department also played a role in the design, adding another familiar collaborator to a watch that sits somewhere between pit lane, streetwear and contemporary collecting.
A red and white bicompax dial with purpose
The most important change is the move from the usual tricompax Carrera Chronograph layout to a cleaner bicompax display.
The small seconds register has been removed, allowing the Team Ikuzawa logo to sit prominently at 6 o’clock beneath the central hands.
It’s a small structural decision that changes the entire mood of the watch, making the dial feel more graphic and symmetrical.
The colour scheme follows Team Ikuzawa’s white and red palette, with an obvious connection to the Japanese flag without turning the watch into a literal flag-dial piece.
The white dial uses a Clous de Paris hobnail finish, giving the surface more depth than a flat motorsport-inspired chronograph might otherwise have.
The red hands and date wheel are lacquered, which explains their saturated, high-contrast appearance against the white ground.
TAG Heuer has also changed the dial furniture around the edge.
The peripheral tachymeter has been replaced by a chronograph seconds scale graduated to 1/5th of a second, putting legibility ahead of the more theoretical business of calculating speed.
The applied hour markers have also made way for printed Arabic numerals from 0 to 60, giving the watch a speedometer-like character that suits the Team Ikuzawa brief.
The TH20-10 movement and dual-signed caseback
Inside is TAG Heuer’s automatic TH20-10 calibre, chosen to support the bicompax layout.
It replaces the TH20-00 used in many three-register Carrera Chronographs, with the absence of small seconds creating the space for the Team Ikuzawa signature on the dial.
The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve, which is practical for a chronograph that may rotate in and out of regular wear.
Through the screw-down sapphire caseback, the openworked rotor and Côtes de Genève finishing are visible.
The rear sapphire is dual-signed by Team Ikuzawa and Bamford Watch Department, making the collaboration explicit without crowding the front of the watch.
