Subaru Gives the WRX and BRZ Two Limited-Run Anniversary Editions for the US

Subaru is leaning into two of its most enthusiast-friendly nameplates with a pair of limited US special editions for 2027.

The WRX GD25 and BRZ ZC15 are anniversary models with familiar Subaru ingredients, from World Rally Blue paint and gold wheels to boxer engines and six-speed manual gearboxes.

They’re not broad-market appearance packages either, with production capped at 350 units for the WRX and 300 units for the BRZ.

GD25 brings rally-era cues back to the WRX

The WRX GD25 is the more overtly nostalgic of the two, paying tribute to the first WRX sold in the United States in 2002 and its “GD” chassis code.

Subaru has kept the visual brief direct, finishing the car exclusively in World Rally Blue with 19-inch gold wheels and matching brake calipers.

That blue-and-gold pairing remains one of Subaru’s most recognisable design signatures, and here it’s backed up with a more purposeful rear end.

The GD25 is fitted with a carbon-fibre swan-neck rear wing that takes inspiration from Travis Pastrana’s WRX ARA25L rally car.

Inside, the special edition gets GD25 Recaro seats with red stitching, giving the cabin a more focused character without moving away from the WRX’s everyday performance brief.

Subaru has also made hardware changes beyond the cosmetics.

The WRX GD25 receives re-tuned suspension with stiffer springs and a flexible strut tower brace, changes aimed at sharpening the car’s response.

Power comes from a 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer engine producing 271 hp, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and an STI short shifter.

BRZ ZC15 keeps the anniversary brief simple

The BRZ ZC15 takes a subtler route, using details that connect the current car back to the first-generation BRZ.

Its Ceramic White paint was previously offered exclusively on the Gen-1 BRZ, making it a carefully chosen colour rather than a random limited-edition finish.

Matte bronze wheels, gold Brembo calipers and unique bronze decals add contrast, while a black decklid spoiler gives the rear a slightly sharper edge.

Under the hood, Subaru has added a flexible V-bar.

The ZC15 keeps the BRZ’s familiar naturally aspirated formula, with a 228 hp 2.4-litre boxer engine driving through a six-speed manual transmission.

That matters because the BRZ’s appeal has always been more about balance and driver involvement than outright numbers.

Limited production and reservation timing

Subaru will build just 350 examples of the WRX GD25 for the US, alongside 300 examples of the BRZ ZC15.

Reservations are expected to begin this year, with deliveries planned for winter and summer 2027.

Pricing has not been announced.

For Subaru buyers who missed earlier enthusiast-spec models, both cars offer a tightly defined take on two familiar platforms rather than a wholesale reinvention.
