Seiko’s Fan-Voted Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver Arrives in Daytime Blue

Seiko has put one of its most engaged watch communities directly into the design conversation, and the result is refreshingly straightforward.

The new Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC011 takes the familiar 62MAS-inspired silhouette and dresses it in Daytime Blue, the colourway chosen through a global fan vote for a 2026 limited edition.

It’s a modern dive watch with a heritage frame, a bright turquoise dial, and enough practical specification to keep it firmly in Prospex territory.

A public vote becomes a Prospex limited edition

The HBC011 follows a global voting campaign held from July 1 to July 31, 2025, where Seiko asked Prospex enthusiasts to choose the look of a future 1965 Heritage Diver limited edition.

Four designs were offered, each tied to a different moment at sea from sunrise to sunset.

The winning version was Daytime Blue, a turquoise treatment intended to evoke the sea under bright daylight.

It’s also the most wearable of the four ideas, which likely explains why it won.

Daytime Blue on a 62MAS-inspired silhouette

The watch sits within Seiko’s contemporary interpretation of its first dive watch, the 1965 model widely known to collectors as the 62MAS.

That lineage matters because the design language remains compact, legible and tool-minded rather than decorative for its own sake.

Here, the Daytime Blue dial uses an embossed wave pattern, giving the colour more depth than a flat lacquered surface would allow.

The matching blue metal bezel insert keeps the whole watch visually coherent, while LumiBrite-filled markers and hands preserve the functional character expected from a Prospex diver.

A circular date window sits at 4:30, a familiar Seiko placement that keeps the hour markers largely uninterrupted.

A compact 300-metre diver with everyday hardware

The case measures 40mm across and 13mm thick, proportions that should appeal to buyers who want a capable dive watch without the bulk often associated with the category.

Both the case and three-link bracelet are stainless steel with Seiko’s super-hard coating.

The watch uses a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a screw-down crown, a screw-in caseback and a unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute scale.

Water resistance is rated to 300 metres, placing it above casual aquatic duty and into the realm of a properly specified modern diver.

The bracelet is fitted with a three-fold clasp, secure lock, push-button release and a slide adjuster for quick length changes at the clasp.

Inside is Seiko’s in-house automatic calibre 6R55, running at 21,600 vibrations per hour with hacking seconds, a date display and a 72-hour power reserve.

The HBC011 is unlikely to surprise anyone with its formula, but that’s part of its appeal.

It gives Seiko’s community exactly the kind of Prospex diver it tends to reward most, with strong heritage cues, serious water resistance and a colour that feels distinctive without making the watch harder to wear.
