Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II Sharpens the Electric Super-Coupé

Rolls-Royce has treated Spectre Series II as an exercise in restraint rather than reinvention.

The electric super-coupé keeps the silhouette that made it one of the marque’s most closely watched modern cars, then adds meaningful gains in range, response and personalisation.

For a brand built on silence and effortlessness, Spectre has become proof that electrification isn’t a compromise at Goodwood. Series II makes that argument with a little more force and a much broader creative vocabulary.

Electric grand touring gains more reach

The headline engineering change is a reworked battery cell technology package that lifts Spectre Series II’s potential driving distance by 18 percent to 390 miles on the WLTP cycle.

Charging times have also been reduced by 14 percent, a practical improvement for a car intended to make electric travel feel as unforced as every other Rolls-Royce experience.

Power output for Spectre Series II now reaches 442 kW, with torque at 1,015 Nm.

Black Badge Spectre Series II sits at the sharper edge of the family, with Infinity Mode unlocking 500 kW and Spirited Mode raising torque to as much as 1,100 Nm.

Those figures matter less as pub bragging rights than as a way of preserving the Rolls-Royce character in an electric format.

The car is meant to move with quiet authority, not theatrical aggression, and the additional immediacy should make that effortless character feel even more complete.

A familiar silhouette with crisper surfaces

Rolls-Royce hasn’t disturbed Spectre’s fastback profile, clean body surfacing or split headlamp signature for Series II.

That restraint is telling, because Spectre’s design has become one of the main reasons clients commission the car.

A new solid exterior colour called Ethereal Blue has been created for the model, adding a cooler, more contemporary finish to the palette.

The most obvious hardware change is a new 23-inch forged alloy wheel with a faceted multi-spoke form designed to catch light across its polished surfaces.

Each wheel uses sharp 2.5 mm radii to preserve its diamond-like definition after polishing, and each is hand-finished for up to six hours.

Clients can choose either a part-polished or fully polished finish, both of which suit the car’s long, low body without making the surface treatment feel busy.

Bespoke materials move further into the spotlight

Spectre has quickly become one of the strongest Bespoke canvases in the current Rolls-Royce range, with demand for personal commissions exceeded only by Phantom.

Some clients have requested more than 20 individual Bespoke elements in a single Spectre, which explains why Series II puts so much emphasis on material depth and craft.

Duality Twill is now offered in Spectre for the first time.

The contemporary rayon fabric is made from bamboo and draws inspiration from the bamboo grove at Le Jardin des Méditerranées on the Côte d’Azur, near Sir Henry Royce’s former winter home, Villa Mimosa.

The textile carries an embroidered Duality graphic that reinterprets the interlinked double R initials through a nautical lens, with an effect that recalls the rope lines of sailing yachts.

A Duality Twill interior can involve up to 2.6 million stitches and 10 miles of thread, requiring up to 25 hours of construction.

The material is offered in Lilac, Chocolate, Black and a new Sage tone, with more than 50 thread colours available for the embroidery.

Placed Perforation leather also joins the Spectre Series II interior programme.

For its debut, Rolls-Royce designers created a moonlit cloud-inspired pattern across the shoulder and headrest areas of the front and rear seats, using 78,138 perforations in three sizes.

Spectre Series II doesn’t try to make Rolls-Royce electric by shouting about technology.

It does something more on-brand, quietly improving the fundamentals while giving owners a larger canvas for personal expression.
