Roger Dubuis expands the Excalibur collection with the Lady of the Lake, a pair of 36 mm rose gold watches that shift the brand’s Arthurian storytelling toward Viviane, the powerful guardian of Excalibur.

Presented in two references, the Excalibur Lady of the Lake DBEX1193 and the Excalibur Lady of the Lake Sylvan Green DBEX1198 bring together gem-set casework, ornamental dial craft and the in-house automatic RD830 calibre.

A 36 mm Excalibur Shaped Like a Jewel
The case is 18K rose gold, measuring 36 mm across and 9.85 mm thick, with sapphire crystals front and back and water resistance rated to 30 metres.
Roger Dubuis gives the watch a deliberately precious architecture, using a fluted bezel set with 48 diamonds and inclined lugs that add another four diamonds on each side.

The result is recognisably Excalibur, but softened into something more intimate than the brand’s larger, more aggressive skeletonised pieces.
Sovereign Grey Versus Sylvan Green
The DBEX1193 uses a Sovereign Grey dial that evokes armour, with a mother-of-pearl centre and rose gold accents giving the watch a controlled, composed character.
The Sylvan Green DBEX1198 is the more atmospheric of the two, using green mother-of-pearl fragments to suggest water, foliage and reflection around Viviane’s mythical lake.
Each mother-of-pearl element is lacquered in a different green tone, then set into wave-shaped recesses carved into the brass dial and outlined by hand-polished rose-gold-treated frames.
A moonstone hemisphere positioned above a rotating green mother-of-pearl disc serves as the small seconds display, adding motion without disturbing the dial’s ornamental balance.
The RD830 Calibre Keeps Things Refined
Both versions run on the automatic RD830 calibre, an in-house movement with hours, minutes and small seconds.
The calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 27 jewels, consists of 183 components and provides a 48-hour power reserve.
Through the exhibition case back, the movement shows Côtes de Genève on the main plate, snail graining and an open-worked 22K gold rotor, with each model receiving a slightly different rotor design.
Straps, Pricing and Who It Suits
The standard Lady of the Lake DBEX1193 comes on a lamb leather strap, while the Sylvan Green DBEX1198 is paired with an alligator leather strap with a perlato effect.
Both straps are interchangeable via spring bars with spurs and are secured by an 18K pink gold pin buckle, with pricing listed on application.
These watches will appeal to collectors who like Roger Dubuis for its theatrical side but want the drama expressed through dial artistry rather than openworked architecture.
The grey model is the more restrained and jewellery-led expression, while the Sylvan Green version feels like the fuller narrative piece, especially with its layered mother-of-pearl construction and animated moonstone seconds display.
