Piaget’s ultra-thin watchmaking has always been at its most compelling when the engineering is allowed to become the design.

The 910P architecture in white gold
The Altiplano Ultimate Automatic 910P remains one of Piaget’s clearest demonstrations of how far ultra-thin watchmaking can be pushed without turning a watch into a fragile curiosity.
First introduced in 2017, the 910P has a total thickness of just 4.3 mm, achieved by merging the movement and case into a single structural unit.
In this limited edition, the 41 mm case is made from white gold, with the caseback also serving as the movement’s mainplate.
That construction allows the calibre’s 219 components to sit directly within the case architecture rather than inside a conventional movement stack.
The layout is reversed, placing the gear train and bridges on the dial side, so the wearer sees the mechanism as the face of the watch.
Wristcheck’s blue treatment
Wristcheck’s contribution is deliberately focused, with its signature blue applied to selected elements rather than across the entire watch.
The hour counter, hands, screws and peripheral rotor all receive the blue treatment, creating a cooler, more contemporary reading of the 910P’s exposed mechanical landscape.
The effect works because the Altiplano Ultimate Automatic is already a highly layered watch visually.
Blue sits against the white gold case and grey-toned mechanical surfaces, giving the open architecture more contrast without changing the technical character of the piece.
The off-centred hour and minute display remains at 2 o’clock, leaving most of the front open to the movement components.
A deep blue calfskin strap with matching stitching completes the monochromatic theme, while the solid caseback is engraved with the Piaget crest and Wristcheck signature.
Ultra-thin engineering on display
The calibre 910P is self-winding, but its automatic system is engineered around a peripheral rotor rather than a conventional central rotor.
Made from 22-carat gold, the rotor runs around the outer edge of the movement, preserving the watch’s thin profile while still providing automatic winding.
The movement operates at 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, and offers approximately 50 hours of power reserve.
Several details underline the extremity of the construction.
Some wheels measure only 0.12 mm thick, while the hands are positioned beneath the bridges to help protect the movement from external pressure.
The suspended barrel, secured by a single bridge on the dial side, remains one of the calibre’s defining technical and visual signatures.
Finishing is in line with Piaget’s ultra-thin haute horlogerie vocabulary, with satin-brushed and sandblasted surfaces, sunburst-finished wheels and bevelled bridges visible across the dial-side construction.
