Patek Philippe’s reference 5531 sits in a very particular corner of modern high watchmaking.
It isn’t simply a World Time watch with a minute repeater added for drama. Its defining trick is more useful and more technically demanding, as the repeater chimes the local time of the city selected at 12 o’clock.
For the Watch Art Grand Exhibition Milan 2026, Patek Philippe has created two new white-gold interpretations, the 5531G-012 and 5531G-013, each limited to just five pieces.

At a glance
- Patek Philippe has unveiled two limited 5531G World Time Minute Repeater editions for Milan 2026.
- Each version features a Grand Feu cloisonné enamel map of Milan, one by day and one by night.
- Both references are limited to five pieces each and priced at EUR 794,600.
Two enamel views of Milan
The difference between the two editions is immediately visible in the dial centre.
Reference 5531G-012 depicts Milan in daylight, with sunlit streets rendered in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel on an 18K gold plate.
Reference 5531G-013 turns the same city into a nocturnal composition, with the street plan illuminated against a darker evening palette.

Around the enamel miniature sits the World Time display, using 24 city names in Italian and placing Milan in red for emphasis.
The 24-hour ring gives the corresponding day and night indication across the time zones, while the familiar 5531 handset keeps the dial recognisably tied to the reference.
The hour hand is openworked and inspired by the Southern Cross constellation, matched with a lozenge-shaped minute hand in white gold.

A World Time repeater with a local voice
The 5531 first appeared in 2017 and later entered Patek Philippe’s regular collection in 2018.
Its importance lies in the way it brings together two ideas deeply associated with the manufacture, the Louis Cottier-style World Time system and a classical minute repeater.
The calibre R 27 HU is a self-winding movement with 452 components, a 22K gold off-centre micro-rotor and a power reserve of 43 to 48 hours.

The repeater uses two classic gongs and is designed to strike the local time for whichever city is positioned at 12 o’clock.
A pusher at 2 o’clock advances the selected time zone in one-hour steps, while the slide on the left side of the case activates the chiming mechanism.
As with earlier 5531 models, the gongs are fixed directly to the caseband to support sound transmission through the white-gold case.

White-gold casework and Milan 2026 details
The case remains the refined Calatrava-style format associated with the reference, measuring 40.2mm across and 11.49mm thick.
Its openworked lugs and hand-guilloché Clous de Paris caseband add a level of external craft that suits the complexity inside.
The hobnail guilloché pattern also continues onto the repeater slide, a detail that makes the case feel more integrated than ornamental.

Each watch is supplied with two interchangeable casebacks, one solid white gold and one sapphire crystal.
Both are engraved with “Patek Philippe Milano 2026”.
The watch is described as protected against humidity and dust only, rather than being rated as water-resistant.

The day version is paired with a light brown grained calfskin strap with cream stitching, while the night version uses midnight-blue grained calfskin with red stitching.
Both are fitted with white-gold fold-over clasps.

The Milan 2026 5531G editions are not broad collector pieces in any practical sense, given the production of five examples per reference.

They are instead a concentrated expression of Patek Philippe’s travel-watch heritage, chiming expertise and enamel craft, made for collectors who value complication and place in equal measure.
