Parmigiani Fleurier’s Tonda PF Sport line has always been the more relaxed side of the Tonda PF universe, but the Ultra-Cermet chronograph is anything but casual in execution.
The new Mineral Blue edition keeps the technically ambitious case construction that made the model stand out and gives it a cooler, more dimensional look than the earlier darker references.
It’s a sports chronograph for collectors who want material innovation without the loudness that often comes with it.

Ultra-Cermet moves beyond the case
Ultra-Cermet is the headline here, and Parmigiani Fleurier uses it with unusual commitment.
Rather than limiting the material to a case shell, the manufacture applies it across almost every external component, including the middle case, signature fluted bezel, screw-down crown and chronograph pushers.
The material itself is a ceramic and titanium composite, with titanium accounting for approximately 40 percent of its composition.
That gives it the scratch resistance and hardness associated with ceramic, rated at about 1,450 Vickers, while preserving a cooler metallic feel and a visual character closer to metal than conventional ceramic.
Its production involves sintering ultra-fine ceramic and titanium powders under heat and pressure, without taking them to the melting point.
Parmigiani then machines the material with diamond tools, a process that allows the brand to execute thin, sharply defined components with the level of finishing expected from the Tonda PF family.
On the wrist, the watch measures 42.5mm across and 13.3mm thick, with 100 metres of water resistance.
The alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces are important, because they stop the composite from looking flat and give the case a changing tone as the light moves across it.
Mineral Blue changes the mood
The earlier Ultra-Cermet chronograph references leaned into a more monochrome character, while Mineral Blue gives this model a softer and more atmospheric presence.
The dial uses a Blackor-treated surface with Mineral Blue subdials, creating a contrast that shifts between darker and brighter tones depending on the light.
The layout is classic integrated chronograph fare, with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and running seconds at 6 o’clock.
There is no date, which suits the visual balance of the dial and keeps the Sport Chronograph close to the pared-back language of the wider Tonda PF collection.
Hand-applied Blackor-plated 18k gold indices and skeletonised 18k gold hour and minute hands bring a quietly rich touch, with luminescent material added for practical legibility.
The chronograph and small-seconds hands are Blackor-plated steel, while the applied PF logo continues the dark, low-contrast theme.
A matching Mineral Blue textured rubber strap completes the watch and is secured with an Ultra-Cermet pin buckle.
The PF070 chronograph calibre
Inside is the calibre PF070, an integrated automatic chronograph developed with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
It combines a column wheel with a vertical clutch, a pairing prized for crisp actuation and smooth chronograph engagement.
The movement runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour and offers a 65-hour power reserve.
It is also COSC-certified, which gives the technically polished exterior a chronometric counterpart.
Viewed through the sapphire caseback, the PF070 shows satin-finished openworked bridges with hand-finished bevels.
The 22k rose gold skeletonised rotor is finished with polished and sandblasted surfaces, adding warmth against the otherwise cool-toned architecture of the watch.

The Mineral Blue edition doesn’t change the character of the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet so much as sharpen its appeal.
It remains a technically serious chronograph with a modern composite case, but the new colourway gives it a more wearable personality for collectors drawn to Parmigiani’s quieter approach to advanced watchmaking.
